... OR IS IT CAPTAIN MAYE?
I HAVEN'T REFRESHED MYSELF ON YOUR FILE FOR A LONG WHILE.
āCaptain, but I can make an exception for you Dr. Carter. Iām intrigued by your methods,ā she writes, her quill scribbling perfect letters with little thought put into how she distanced them. Portia knew he could read her writing. His was far worse, being a doctor and all.
Admittedly, she scowls at the idea of letting this man anywhere near her precious little boy ā squishing Snugās cute little face as she mentally praised him ā but an idea did arise.
Snug needed a tooth removed. It was one that had cracked on a pallet when one of those bilge rats slammed it, and it was obviously causing him pain.
āI will be happy to accept your offer, just so long as I get to monitor the situation. It cannot be deemed reasonable that I leave my companionās side, Iām sure you understand. Besides, wouldnāt it be nice to catch up?ā
That last part she added to dull any hostilities, making sure her message was to the point but did not dull the good will of the doctor.
Signed, Captain Portia Maye
