For a school project, Luca is tasked with submitting an art piece– A drawing, photo, collage, etc– that features the people and things he loves most in life. But there's just one problem: Alberto's in Portorosso.

One weekened, after a lot of begging, he's finally allowed to take the train back to Portorosso, where Alberto can model for him with the stars and the sea as a backdrop.

What's seafolk society like, in general? We see in the movie that Luca lives on what looks like a farm, in maybe a village?– But we don't see much of that 'village' other than the Paguro household and the neighboring kelp fields.

We also know that seafolk– At least, the community of 'em that Luca live in– don't have entirely developed technology, either. To Alberto, who's lived on land for a little bit now, a phonograph is a "magic singing lady machine"! Even simple tools like forks are foreign, too.

So are all seafolk communities in this sort of middle-ages, underdeveloped stage? Or are there communities out there that have basic technology for the 1940's-60's, maybe even city-like developments? Do you think there are seafolk communities out there that sort of collaborate with humans, exchange ideas and developments?

How would illness and disability work within the seafolk community? Could they contract human illnesses or vice versa, and would there be sicknesses that only seapeople could contract? Would there be sea healers that prescribe sea remedies? Would human medications not work for them?

With amputees/those born without body parts, would they replace them with makeshift prosthetics from things in the ocean? When they changed into humans, would the part change with them or stay the same?

Would hearing impaired sea folk use large shells to amplify sound into their ear fins? Would seeing impaired sea folk use sea glass glasses?

For sure! I'm trying to facilitate all sorts of prompts and ideas so oc's are included in that since some people may see them and want to write/draw/headcanon about them :)

This was probably a dream from a few weeks ago. I was visiting a friend in Connecticut and she had a clark, which was named after her and also seemed to have mystical powers or something. (It was the only one in the neighborhood that wasn't just "a clark" with different features.)

The clark was made of some unusual and interesting material and had some kind of special "glass" that would let you see the clark's mind.
