To heal, improve her relationships and get better. given how much tadc has a sense of HOPE built into its very core, that feels more fitting than deciding to make the trans woman a completely iredeemable person who kills herself

I definitely see what the comparison to Emilia Pérez was aiming for. In fact, it goes beyond transness. Emilia Pérez was a movie made by a French cis man about a Mexican trans woman. And it did not have the consultation team Ryan Coogler had to create something like Sinners. Everything about Emilia Pérez was stereotypical rubbish, and that's because the team did not care. Like the previous anon said, a room full of people not of that demographic wrote a script to win prestige off the backs of marginalized groups.

The comparison was not to say that Gooseworx is a cis man; obviously, she's not! But she writes like she is out of touch with her own community. It's almost like she despises transness in how trans characters are treated within TADC, for example, Ribbit, Jax, and Zooble. I think Gooseworx has a lot of internalized misogyny, transphobia, and self-loathing that she should have deconstructed before creating TADC.

I didn't even know about Emilia Perez, so thank you much for explaining and enlightening me on the movie. I just looked it up and the fact that the transwoman is also a cartel leader makes it even worse 😭 idk how anyone can be this brave when depicting a group of people they're not in nor ever spoke to. transgirls can't have anything without being aligned with the most violent groups ever. Or subtly imply to the general audience that "dont be transphobic but this harmful stereotype is true!" It's not hard to just depict a human being as a human being.

And yeah you get it. Gooseworx is a grown ass woman, she's not a man, it's just her internalized bigotry is making her write herself--- characters who are like her--- like a man would. It's sad, it just shows how much she hates herself and is limiting her own womanhood inherently. People need to understand that before immediately jumping to think someone is transphobic, I understand with the extreme rise of transphobia lately, but this is why we have to pay attention to the subtle things someone is showing us, to further prevent transphobic ideas. Gooseworx is another example from the system, who is showing us blatantly she's not an ally.
