Nail junkie: From hair to nails Ombre has evolved
There is a craze with ombre styled hair lately. For those of you who don't know what this is, I'll briefly explain. Ombre styled hair is done by bleaching the bottom part of your hair and sometimes coloring it lighter. This is done by people with light or dark hair and every color in between. It is supposed to look like a fade away. The illusion is that you have been growing out your natural hair color from having previously gone a lot lighter.
As some of you know, my obsession with dip-dye has graduated well into the fall season. I was trying to find a new way to color my nails and came across something called sponged gradient. For this you will need three nail polishes, a plastic cover, a makeup sponge, nail polish remover and cotton balls.
To minimize the mess, place a plastic over the flat surface you will be using.
You use a base coat and let it dry. The instructions say to use white but I used a beige matte color that looked more natural.
After that you get the three colors that you're going to use in order and drop a small amount of each onto the plastic. They have to be touching. (these will create the fading effect).
Next you will need your makeup sponge. Place the the vertical rectangle on the sponge directly on the nail polish and apply it to your nail. Try to do this lightly to avoid a mishap. After you're done, repeat with the next nail.
Once your nails are dry, use the nail polish remover and cotton balls to carefully remove the extra polish from your fingers (there will be extra, trust me).
The last step is to put on a clear coat to even out the appearance of the nail.
Clearly I am not very patient and therefore messed up the nail on my index finger but besides that, I was happy with my results! I used pink, purple and turquoise.
