o The first character I ever fell in love with: 

Arthur! Out of all of them he was the one who made me laugh the most, but was also the most endearing. 

o A character that I used to love/like, but now do not: 

None of them, really. The closest is probably Martin, for whom his more irritating qualities do stand out slightly more for me on subsequent listens. 

o A ship that I used to love/like, but now do not: 

None of them, really, but inversely Carolyn/Herc did grow on me over time. 

o My ultimate favourite character[tm]:

It’s a tie between Arthur and Douglas, but for very different reasons (obviously.) Douglas is the best in terms of snark and Batman gambits, but has that extra layer of Sad Backstory to make him more likeable, particularly in how stoic he is about it. He never gets whiny or uses it as an excuse to be unpleasant. And Arthur’s just fun. Plus he made us all a video series for lockdown, so what’s not to like? 

o Prettiest character:

Not really applicable this, given the medium!

o My most hated character: 

Hmm either Ruth or Gordon. Keiran’s a horrible little bugger, but he’s still just a kid. Gordon really twists the knife with the way he manipulates and belittles his son, but his schemes are at least sort of compelling. It doesn’t make him better, just somewhat more interesting. Ruth is just generally awful. Might have to be another tie. In any case it’s gorgeously satisfying to see both of them get their comeuppance. 

o My OTP:

Don’t really have one! It’s a bit of a free-for-all franchise where that’s concerned. 

o My NOTP: 

It doesn’t reach anywhere near NOTP levels, but I was never all that sold on Martin and Theresa. The whole “he gets with an actual princess!!” thing felt a bit too wish-fulfilling. I do love that Theresa’s a bit of an aviation geek though. 

Or Carolyn/Gordon, I suppose. yeesh. 

o Favourite episode: 

God, now you’re asking. 

Boston’s definitely a contender, it was the episode that got me properly interested. But then there’s Helsinki and St Petersburg... aargh!

I’m going with St Petersburg. The whole foiled theft and the straight-up gleeful way they all lord it over Gordon (particularly in the way they throw his treatment of Arthur back in his face) takes home the gold. “I know it’s his, because it’s got his name on it. Have you decided you like it after all, Mr Shappey?” might be the best line in the series. 

o Saddest Death: 

...Have there actually been any deaths, besides Mr Leeman? 

I suppose Mr Leeman might actually have to win this one by virtue of being the sole candidate, despite the fact that his death wasn’t actually very sad. 

o Favourite season/least favourite season:

I’m skipping these, because I listened to it all at once and can never get it straight in my head which episodes are in which series. 

o Character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but I hate: 

Nobody, really. I suppose maybe I don’t like Martin quite as much as some people liked him? Like I don’t have that “he’s beautiful and I must protect him!!” thing going. Although that said Yverdon les Bains did help me through a job interview once, so I feel a bit bad now. 

o My ‘you’re a piece of trash, but you’re still my fave’ fave:

My first thought was Douglas, but I’m not sure he’s really trashy enough for this. (Sketchy, sure, but not bad bad.) Mr Birling, on the other hand...

Look, I know I’m not supposed to like him. But he’s just so delightfully awful and he owns it. Also his performance in Edinburgh made me laugh so much I nearly pulled a stomach muscle. 

o My ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave:

Arthur, although he’d probably disagree about deserving better. He seems pretty genuinely content.

I apologise, because I did manage to get up and get my water, and consequently missed this. So I missed it for the right reasons, but I still missed it. And then I checked Tumblr on my iPad and still missed it because of the random way the app displays notifications…

(I have honestly no idea how you’re supposed to keep up with things via mobile apps without purposefully looking. None.)

I can’t dry-swallow pills, unfortunately. It actually took me well into adulthood to be able to swallow pills at all without gagging or choking, something I had to learn to survive, well, mental illnesses and chronic pain and migraines and vitamin deficiencies and… I can do it now, but I absolutely need water.

(For anyone who struggles with pill swallowing: water in the mouth before, not after, the pill. I was always taught to put the pill in the mouth first, and that’s how you choke on it and develop a debilitating fear of swallowing tablets. Also, try practicing on cut-up pieces of gummy lollies, and work your way up to increasing the size. If your practice item is soft and squishy, you’re less likely to get that horrible panicked-choking feeling as you swallow it. I swear that this works, because I’ve gone from being unable to swallow something as tiny as a Sudafed tablet to being able to swallow long naproxen tablets without batting an eye. Now, if my family had taught me this as a child, and not just screamed at me to swallow the tablet, my health today would be a great deal better…)

I’m actually going to tuck a sealed bottle of water (the storebought kind) underneath my desk and see if that works for those days when getting up is difficult. I may not remember it’s there, but it’s worth trying. It’s got to be easier to just reach down and grab, right?

Somewhat off topic but whatever: I think today (it’s late Saturday morning) is going to be a good day because I managed to swallow all my morning pills with one glass of water. Spoonies feel me on this, yes? I’ve had to add two extra morning pills and this is the first time in two weeks I haven’t had to go back to the sink to refill my water glass. *dances*

Although you would have to convince them that they’re meant to be keeping rats away from your books (unless Crowley has already told them all to stay away from your shop) and not bringing in half dead ones because they think you can’t fetch your own food. Cats are weird like that sometimes. And I would be interested to know what a pet cat would think of Crowley, as presumably he’d smell like a snake to them and it would depend on the cat as to whether they found that alarming or thought he was dinner.

Not going to lie, either option would be slightly funny to know the answer to. Cats don’t stay startled for long as long as their owner calms them down afterwards and it would be a bit funny to imagine Crowley getting constantly stalked by them, as they couldn’t actually do him any serious damage (and I imagine they would very quickly stop trying).

Aziraphale: Oh I suppose a cat would fit rather well. Even so, I don’t think I want to ‘own’ a creature of any kind like that. The bonds that humans form with their chosen few domesticated animals is a lovely development of human culture, but it’s not one that i care to replicate. I love and care for all of the Almighty’s creatures wherever they may live. Putting one purely under my care might almost constitute favouritism.

Crowley: Plus, cats are more demonic than angelic. They kill everything just for fun, and destroy things for attention.
