I am stoked to finally post about this now that the creators have been revealed. This fic was my contribution to the @spnsummergen event in 2024.

It was writtin response to a prompt by @sakarrie-creates whose request was a writer's dream with the broadness of it, this was the prompt:

Fic Summary:

Sam and Dean follow the lead of an old friend of Bobby's into the Canadian wilderness of Golden Ears Park where three hunters have been found ripped to shreds their throats bitten out, while possible bear attacks, the local park ranger and part-time hunter Roger Marsh doesn't think so. The brothers help him investigate an incident that quickly turns out to be very much their kind of problem.

Summary: Three months after Michael leaves Dean’s body, Sam wants to take on a case.

Author’s note: I wrote this for @spnsummergen , working to a fantastic set of prompts from @boykvngs . Also @denugis very kindly and ably betaed for me even though I finished it much, much later than I planned to.

Michael didn’t eat. Angels don’t. By the time Sam and Cas rescued him, Dean hadn’t so much as scented a cheeseburger for four months. Now he’s been binge-eating for almost three. He finds himself waking hungry in the night, making his way to the kitchen on socked feet like he used to, sometimes, as a teenager ravenous from growing. There was rarely anything in the fridge in those days; the leftovers of a takeout from the night before, the congealed remains of whatever exotic macaroni he’d been making last. Things are a little better now, and he’s thinking as he walks down the corridor of the lasagne that they didn’t finish last night.

The kitchen is dark, of course; but when the light flicks on it reveals Sam at the table, solid and silent and huge. Dean jumps half out of his skin.

“Christ, Sam, warn a guy,” he says.
