youre right of course, cas could be ignoring billies pounding because there's a sense of urgency in cas's voice and he doesn't have time to pay attention to it...

but this keeps throwing me off:

dean, the love of cas's life, is trying to get his attention. cas obviously heard dean speak, the least could've done is say something like "dean let me say this, please" because, again, there's an urgency in cas's voice, but cas, undisturbed, keeps going AFTER clear interruption from dean comes off:

"we know character A wants to say something too but we're just gonna have character B completely ignore him even if this is the love of his life, even if what character A has to say is equally as important or life altering to character B simply because we can't have too many life altering revelations so close to our finale"

when you think about it in this way, is really feels like they silenced dean. and they made the gay character do it which is so much worse.

also, i've always felt the BOOMS were more cues for the bomb drops that cas keeps making as he gets closer to saying i love you rather than just pounds at the door. to me, the BOOMS are the audience's "visualization" of both cas and deans hearts, and theyre there to get us closer to what they're physically feeling. the BOOMS get louder as we get closer to cas's deepest truth, so technically we know they can hear the pounds, but they can't hear the pounds if that makes sense.
