There's something about how the first thing Samuel Campbell did upon (re-)meeting Dean was compare him to his (child) Mary. "You're alike. You both wanted out. Both wanted a normal life."

But Samuel actually turns out to be a lot like a Dean, too. Smarter than ppl give him credit for. Wants to save people but family-oriented. Traumatized, of course, to the point his morals melted under strain.

One of the first things Dean does upon (re-)meeting Mary is compare her to his (child) Sam. "You're alike. Sam got out and came back, like you."

"I'm your mother. You have to do what I say."

Her sense of humor.

"I had dreams all night... Stuff I'd forgotten about. Funny stuff your dad did."

Just imagine. Funny John Winchester.

Worst part is, he kinda was. He's silly in #spnwin too, making cartoony impressions/voices and goofing/being silly to match Mary's wry, acerbic wit/confidence. Henry, for all his off-putting Henry-ness is funny at turns, too-> "Guess the Mayans were wrong."

I think the very worst thing that could happen in a post-Lebanon John story is that all his madness stays, but some of the warmer parts wake up again (silliness, cooking pot roast and his famous chili soup crap etc). Eleanor Shellstrop voice: She just wasn't capable of changing for me.
