Unlikely Allies
A nest. An /actual/ budding vampire nest was what Theo had just stumbled into, and instead of fighting one vampire as he'd expected- he was fighting 4. Theo would normally be worried about this if he hadn't found the nest in an old, abandoned crypt. That seemed a little /too/ predictable in his opinion, but having them actually crawl out of the old coffins nearly made him laugh.
âYa'll know you don't have to do that, right?â he asked with a smirk as the four of them started to circle him, bodies lowered into positions ready to spring. A snap of his fingers later and a dark smoke burst from his fingertips to take the solid form of a long, black scythe. If they were on a stereotype trend, he could follow suit. He tapped the base to the cold, stone floor and it echoed off the stone around them. Â One of them, seemingly the youngest, snarled at him and barred her fangs.
A lunge later, and movement all over the over-sized tomb erupted. Four figures closed in on Theo's position at once, and one moment Theo stood in the center of the room, then the next he was gone. A trail of smoke followed in the wake of his shift, and with barely a sound other than metal meeting flesh, one of the vampires heads thumped to the ground, separated from it's owners body. Theo perched behind it in a low crouch as the limp torso sank to it's knees, and all the vampires froze at once. Another blink and a flash of smoke and another vampire suffered the same fate. Two left, and the two made a frantic grab for him before he could shift again. Theo met them this time with a swipe of his scythe, using the handle to hit one in the stomach and knock it back, while the other soon found it's torso headless with another swipe of Theo's blade. A twirl of the scythe over his head as the fourth vampire attempted an attack, and the youngest fell to a similar to the ground, her head rolling lifelessly past his feet. Theo let the silence settle, and after a moment he blinked in surprise.
All of these vampires were /young/ - not a single one put up a proper fight, and Theo's brow furrowed as he couched over to examine one of the bodies. Why were all of them so young? Is their maker among them- just as young? While it might seem like a job well done, he wasn't so great at his abilities (usually) that there wasn't at least some sort of fight. Something didn't feel right-
And just as Theo thought something was off, he heard a soft tap against stone behind him. He turned just in time to buffer the tackle of a 5th vampire from behind him with his scythe, and he grunted as he was pinned to the dusty floor. Teeth gnashed above him and he struggled to force the vampire up and off of him as it made a grab for his throat around the handle.
âFuck-â he blocked the grab with a jab of his elbow into the vampires eye and his knee to his groin, but it doubled it's efforts, it's fangs getting closer to Theo's throat the more it struggled.
