Although she strode with her back straight and shoulders square, Bara could feel her insides quivering. Â Furious and embarrassed, she tried to cover her bruised face beneath the peak of her white baseball cap, her head down as she hurried south from the hotel district. Â Sheâd heard the engines a mile away, and she shouldâve known that she was the target â a girl didnât get into fistfights with bikers and then expect no repercussions, after all. Getting jumped on her way home from work, however, was not what sheâd had in mind.
She could hear the motors even now, snarling and prowling.  They had let her run, but they wouldnât let her get far.  Trying to move as quickly as she could without breaking into a jog - she didnât want them to know she was afraid - dread scratched itself into her tired face as she rounded the corner only to see the biggest bastard sheâd ever laid eyes on. Oh god, donât let him be with them⌠He looked as though he could tear her in half.
âHey!â Her teeth snapped around the word, sounding much bolder than she felt as she rushed to the manâs side. âDo a gal a favour?â
ANOTHER day, another boring night. A permanent scowl was etched on Ryujiâs face as he stalked the streets of Kamurocho, wandering into the hotel district for no particular reason. What would it take for something actually interesting to happen for once? Everything was starting to get a little too cushy nowadays and Ryuji was craving something new and exciting.
He never really did pay much attention to things, especially when there wasnât anything particularly engaging to distract him. People moved out of his way, group parting as they let him walk right through them, not daring to even brush themselves against him. At least he knew he was intimidating enough to make people get out of his way. Sometimes this city is too damn crowded, he thought to himself.
About to turn a corner, his empty train of thought was interrupted at the sound of someoneâs loud voice. A vein instantly twitched on his forehead. Who the ď˝ď˝ ď˝ď˝ dared to yell at him? He snarled, turning towards the voice, ready to blow them to kingdom come when he paused and looked down when he didnât see anyone at his direct eye level.
â Ha? Whoâre you? â he cocked his head to the side as he studied her. She looked pretty beat up, even with the shadow of her hat obscuring some of her face. â Am I supposed to help ya just because yer hurt or somethinâ? Sorry, but I dish out the beatings, not the other way around. â
He began to walk away, not even looking back or waiting for a response from her. Though something about the look in her eyes made him pause his steps, standing out in the street. Something that reminded him of someone. He made a small ď˝ď˝ď˝ sound before tilting his head, looking back at her. â Who did that to ya anyways? â he asked, making eye contact with her.Â
