11) what aspect of your writing do you think has most improved since you started writing?

Well, when I started writing, it was because we did daily journaling in third grade, so I have managed a slight decrease in the terrifying run-on sentences? ;)

You know, while that’s mostly a joke, it’s also mostly true? I think I’ve managed to get sharper, to make the words I chose serve their purposes more efficiently, so I’m closer to the story that exists in my head.

(Also I never would have thought I’d write explicit fic back when I started posting/finishing fic honestly, and well. That’s a thing that happens, when I’m actually writing. The first idea for a fic for Code: Realize this past week was an incredibly vivid sexual moment, honestly.)

16) are there any characters who haunt you?

I’m ... not sure I know what this question really wants me to answer. Are there characters in my head that will probably never entirely go away? I think so. (Adelaide) 

Are there characters in my head with whom I identify in strange and unexpected ways so I get terribly emotional about them in odd contexts? (Adelaide)

He looks at her, and it's that first day at Ostagar, it's their victory at Fort Drakon, and it's their wedding day, and suddenly she doesn't know whether she's Warden or Hero or Queen, or neither. Is she something else now? To him, to her kingdom?

He doesn't respond, but she hasn't expected him to. Instead, she's there when he sinks to his knees, already moving, arms sliding beneath his, a steady weight pushing against his even as he sags against her. He's warm and heavy and familiar, but his returning embrace is an uncertain thing, hesitant where he's used to be bold, wary of her sudden appearance and she doesn't blame him. The blame is hers to bear, even now.

She vaguely makes note of the guards making their silent exit, but her thoughts are for her King, now, knee-deep in hay and horse manure, half-dressed and so – so every ounce the man she married, she does not hold back the next sob when it builds in her throat, pushing against defences she hasn't realized she's put up. Something cold is slowly thawing behind her ribs, and it hurts – it hurts, and she welcomes the feeling with an urgency she can't explain.

“Have you come home?” The question is gruff at her ear, asked from a dark place, a terrified place he doesn't often venture. “Elissa, are you home?”

“Yes,” she breathes

However, I’ve only ever posted two - though technically, my only two fics are stand-alones for all that they are in the same AUverse as each other and are collectively known as All That's Left To Chart, and I am going to post them both =P  I suck at titles.  I wanted them to have individual titles and those were harder to figure out than the actual writing part.  Caveat: I know I’ll probably never take fandom by storm, I’m up against a lot of superior writers and I’ll probably never quite reach that level.  But it’s nice to finally have my chance to stand with them and not let fear keep me from finally posting. .

One: I wrote this originally as a little pick-me-up for @feoplepeel when she was having a rough day while in the midst of writing Singing Stone, where the fruit of this particular union (one Emery Rose Theirin) has a supporting role. It was never intended for any eyes other than her own but, on a whim, I shared it with @spirrum who squealed at me until I decided to post it. Just a little slice of life during a sleepless night for my rather pregnant Warden Commander Derry Aeducan and her darling Alistair. I love their banter - they are just the best of friends, not just lovers (I recently started watching Parks and Rec and Leslie's "I love you and I like you" is soooo Derry and Alistair.)  For all that I hate about my own writing - and there is a ton - their playful fondness for one another is something I actually really like. Two: In our wee email chain, @theherocomplex has taken to cheering me up from time to time with little "imagine this" scenarios. And this one? This one TOOK OFF. From the very first moment I read it, my brain went to overdrive, and I couldn't rest until I had it written down (which was fun at work - trying to squeeze in frantic scribbling in between cases heh.) I like this because a lot of fics that feature pregnancy tend to focus on all the glowing, sweet moments - which are lovely and fun to read, don't get me wrong - but just never seemed to fit Derry. So I got to write grumpy, mopey, irritable dwarf girl, and her human equivalent of a mabari puppy husband. I'm super proud of these knitted companions (though looking back on the lads that I've chosen to make, it's like all of Thedas's blondes made an appearance. Well, Alistair is ginger, but you get my point.) There are more coming - both decidedly NOT blonde at all - but I look at each and can see a part that I was most proud of (Zevran's tattooed face; the entirely knit tunic on Varric; Alistair's flippy hair and my first felt armor; and basically all of Cullen but especially his furry collar and slicked back hair solution.) I can also see all my failure's pretty clearly as well (my hubris over "KNITTING EVERYTHING ON THEM!" and lack of decent notetaking kept me from really making Zev and Varric's respective outfits more closely match what I envisioned in my head; forgetting to switch to Cullen's boot color while knitting his legs) but I'm still really proud of them - and I think the four ladies who've received them so far enjoy them as well, which was my main goal in making them in the first place. This was my 15 minutes of fame in the TMNT fandom - this dorky comic I made with my Revoltech turtles was reblogged by the official Nick TMNT tumblr. By far my most popular original post ever (I'm well over 500 likes/reblogs, which just blows me away.) I miss my old photo set up when I could take decent, dorky shots of these guys whenever I wanted. Someday, I will again.

I uh, don’t have five fan accomplishments ^^;;  So I’m sticking with four instead
