It’s been three years since I said goodbye to my dear sister Carine — and I wasn’t sure when our paths would cross again. The morning of our goodbye, we were in Berlin after the final Depeche Mode concert of the “Global Spirit Tour.” We’d danced and sang and cried together during the show, which would eventually turn into the film “Spirits in the Forest. But in the time we spent that didn’t make it on screen, Carine became my sister. She is an incredible woman and I truly believe the entire film could have been about her journey and people would have gotten how much the band means to us fans. I am so blessed and grateful that Carine and I had that experience together and that we stay connected — which makes us reuniting today and going to the beach together here in France all the more magical. Two years ago my life changed forever because I said yes to being in an “untitled Depeche Mode documentary.” And so on July 25, 2018, I found myself in a place I never expected: the Waldbühne in Berlin, about to be filmed watching Depeche Mode perform their final show of the Global Spirit Tour. This moment at the top of the amphitheater before 43,000 other fans poured in — I love this moment. It was so full of anticipation that the air seemed to shimmer.
