Kym had just moved to Riverside 6 months ago from Australia. Fortunately, she was on the dance team so she made friends quickly. “Guess what! My mom’s letting me have a guy girl party!” Shelby, her best friend was turning 14 next weekend. Everyone was so excited. “What does that mean?” Kym asks. “It means kissing boys!” Maddie exclaims. Kym got really nervous, but just smiled through it since all her other friends were so excited.

“Kym do you have everything?” her mom asks. Kym comes downstairs in a cute yellow dress with Shelby’s present. Her mom drops her off, “Have fun sweetie.” “Thanks mum,” she replies. She hurries into Shelby’s house. She and Maddie scream when they see her. They all hug. Kym and Maddie got there early to help her finish decorating. They had the basement family room area all to themselves.

“How many people did you invite?” Kym asks. “14. 7 boys and 7 girls,” Shelby replies. Kym gets a bit nervous again, she really hopes the party is just fun and there is no pressure to kiss anyone. At 6 everyone starts arriving.

The party is fun they are listening to some music and just talking. Shelby’s mom brings down the pizza and everyone eats. After eating Maddie elbows Shelby, “Now,” she whispers. Shelby gets up. “Ok everyone come over here.” She motions to the couches. “Brian, Jerrod can you move the table over there. Ok everyone sit in a circle on the rug, boy girl boy girl.” Kym takes a deep breath she’s not sure what’s going to happen.

Shelby sets a bottle down, everybody ooohs and giggles. “Well it’s my birthday so I get to go first,” Shelby announces and spins the bottle. It lands on Samantha, so Shelby has her pick of either guy to the side of her, either Brian or Anthony. Shelby liked Brian so it was an easy choice. “Brian.” She stands up and reaches her hand out. He gets up and they walk to the bathroom. “Set the timer,” she tells Maddie. “Ok 7 minutes,” Maddie states. They close the door. Everyone is giggling and whispering. Kym’s heart is racing. Maddie bangs on the door when the timer goes off and they open it. Everyone was clapping and laughing. Shelby sits back down, “Ok now Anthony you go.” He spins it and it lands almost back where it started on Samantha. They get up. Samantha doesn’t look very sure of herself. Kym is thinking that maybe she’s not the only one that is nervous. After 7 minutes they come out. Then it happens, “Kym you’re next,” Shelby declares, and Kym gets so nervous. She spins the bottle. “Oooh Robert,” Maddie says. Kym just looks at him. She was a bit relieved as he was by far the best looking guy here so she’s glad it landed on him. He gets up and holds out his hand. Kym takes it and stands up, they walk into the bathroom.

They nervously look at each other. “So do you think people actually kiss when they’re in here?” Robert asks. “Uh, well I don’t know I’ve never been to a boy girl party.” Kym answers. “Oh that’s right, you just moved here from Australia.” Kym smiles. Again there’s another awkward silence. “So have you ever kissed a girl?” “Yes.” “Oh,” Kym answers shyly. “Have you ever kissed a boy?” Kym shakes her head, “No.” She feels so embarrassed. “So I get to be your first kiss?” Robert says so sincerely. Kym just looks at him. He seems so sweet. “Well then I don’t want to disappoint.” He looks at her eagerly. “Ok,” she whispers.

Robert leans in and puts his lips against hers and holds them there for 5 seconds. He pulls back and opens his eyes. Kym opens hers. She’s smiling. “Can I kiss you again?” he asks. Kym smiles saying yes. Robert leans back in and their lips come together. This time they both move their lips around and share several kisses. Robert puts his arm around her back pulling her against him. She puts her arms around his waist. She was so nervous, but now it just felt so easy and she was enjoying it.
