#spinning!

I'm very slowly working my way through the 4oz of rolags I bought a while ago, with my lovely, lovely mingo asho supported spindle. The fiber's merino/silk and my first time spinning from rolags!

Obviously this is obvious, but it continues to astound me.

I've been crocheting since I was TINY! I am very familiar with yarn! But I've only been spinning for a few months! And singles feel alarmingly like they'll fall apart! And then you ply it, and suddenly YARN!

I just made myself a little wristband (to hold fiber against my arm instead of having to hold it all in my hand while spinning) out of some yarn I spun as a test of my fiber, and it's warm and cozy and also works much better than wrapping a headband a few times around my wrist, but it means I was once again surprised by the way this yarn I made is YARN! And I only have a few yards left, because I looked at the finished skein and thought 'That's just about the correct amount to make a wristband,' and, of course, I was correct!

Because it's YARN, and I've been estimating how much I can crochet out of a given amount of yarn since I was literally 6 years old!

Anyway, here's a picture of my new wristband thing, and the spinning I've been doing lately! Look how it turned into YARN! And then A FUNCTIONAL WEARABLE OBJECT!

And it's just... I have so many things I've made! My house is full of bits and pieces I've crocheted! And now there's a slowly accumulating pile of things I crocheted out of yarn I spun and it feels like that yarn SHOULD feel different, but it doesn't.

It's just yarn, made with some fancy sticks.
