20141230 Class with Wagner
Trained: 45 minutes
We practiced a couple of spider guard techniques. Here's how we got to the starting position: From full guard get control of both sleeves near the wrist. Open your guard and pull one leg up inside the elbow of your opponent and get the knee/shin on bicep and your foot on their hip. Do the same with the other leg. Spread your knees apart while keeping good sleeve control. Push off your left foot and move your hips back, take your right foot and circle it over the the left bicep and under/behind the left armpit. Tuck your right arm in tight to your hip and really secure their left arm and wrist.
From there:
Sweep: Take your left foot and hook it on their left hip, with your shin lined up across their stomach or waist. At this point they should try to pass on your left side, be sure and keep your shin on their belly. Hook behind their right knee with your left arm and bring it close to your head. You are going to sweep them to your right by pushing right with your right leg and kicking them upwards with your left leg. You should end up landing with your right shin on their left bicep, which will hurt a bit if you drop your full weight on it.
Omoplata: Take your left foot and post it with the ball of the foot on the mat to the right(your right) of your opponents left knee. That requires you falling to your left side, at the same time roll on to the back of your neck while pushing off your left foot. Kick your right leg against their armpit so they go face first towards the mat and follow them to the omoplata position and secure their hips.
