Watching Spider-Man: into the SpiderVerse after watching the No Way Home, and I love that the Parker line are all geniuses. May, all the Peter's, are just like "oh we just made this thing to fix the thing."
Then the Morales family is like "oh we do art, and healing, and engineering".
SO considerate of you to ask; i fully DON’T want to talk about jake johnson, whose presence lives in my brain like a tapeworm, self-deprecatingly singing an idiotic spider-mans rewrite of deck the halls to an icily disinterested crowd, making awkward banter with the pianist, shouting out his ex wife who extremely doesn’t want him to, ruining my life,
my review of spider-man: there are so many spider-mans is that
(1) hm so, actually this is the best movie in the world maybe?
(2) it was such a fucking relief to be able to see in theaters an animated movie that does not look like it is trying to be toy story that the fact that said animation is clever and visceral and frequently gorgeous is almost just like a nice cherry on top of that fact
(3) i appreciate that it takes place in a parallel universe because that makes it easier to forgive its only flaw which is that it shares the miles morales origin story comic’s profound confusion about how different models of schools work
(4) miles morales is my son thank you
(5) many movies and TV shows, including multiple MCU flicks, take place in a new york city so anonymous it could be any other major city on the continent or possibly world, but this movie’s take on NYC felt lovingly crafted and lived-in and specific and honest and lovely and ugly and thrilling and everyday and real
(6) i read a review that called jake johnson a “revelation” and was half proud of my baby and half incredibly mad because some of us have known for a quantifiable amount of time actually like let’s see i started watching new girl when season 2 was airing so 6 years, i have known for six years EXACTLY about jake johnson many important things such as that i would die for him, but, um, anyway, so i can’t really say that it’s a spider-man: nest of the spiders specific thing that i would die for jake johnson, but to reiterate, god would i ever die for jake johnson and god would i ever especially die for jake johnson playing a peter parker who is steve rogers in winter soldier levels of depressed about his divorce, like are you kidding me, what a christmas present for me personally
