These Slow Cooker Chai Spiced Poached Pears are a delightful dessert infused with warm spices and served with a luscious syrup. Perfect for cozy nights or special occasions.
Ingredients: 4 firm but ripe pears, peeled, cored, and halved. 2 cups water. 1/2 cup brown sugar. 2 cinnamon sticks. 4 whole cloves. 4 cardamom pods, lightly crushed. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger. 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg. 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper.
Instructions: In a slow cooker, combine water, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom pods, vanilla extract, ginger, nutmeg, and black pepper. Stir well until sugar is dissolved. Add the pear halves to the slow cooker, making sure they are submerged in the liquid. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until the pears are tender, but still hold their shape. Once cooked, carefully remove the pears from the slow cooker and place them on a serving dish. Strain the poaching liquid through a fine mesh sieve into a saucepan. Bring the liquid to a simmer over medium heat and cook until it reduces by half, about 10-15 minutes, to form a syrupy consistency. Pour the syrup over the poached pears before serving.
