Okay so admittedly I havent watched any Tom and Jerry since I was a kid but. What's your favorite part of them! What's your favorite thing abt Tom? And is there a certain thing present in multiple episodes- a cliche, a running joke, or a fact about one of them- that you enjoy most?
Oooh thanks for these asks!! And honestly I implore you to rewatch some of the original shorts, they really still hold up to this day! Now to answer your first question, it's actually really hard for me to nail down one specific thing that I would say is my favorite aspect. There's just so many things that make the series so memorable to me, especially the directing, the animation, and the music! I guess if I was forced to say what I love most, I'd say that it's just how happy the series makes me! Watching these shorts, especially the ones from my self-proclaimed "Golden Age", is just so incredibly nostalgic for me and at the same time they STILL genuinely make me laugh, and not just like a little giggle, no I laugh HARD when I watch these. It's especially the timing on every joke that makes it so so perfect its just.... HHHH I love it a whole lot -w-
Okay, my favorite thing about Tom? Ugh, where do I BEGIN?? I love how incredibly determined he is, he seriously NEVER gives up, and while I usually consider Jerry the instigator, Tom is certainly FAR from being innocent and he kinda has the same bastardly charm that nearly all my other f/os have (I guess I have a type dhxbf), and even though he comes up with quite a few clever schemes, he is also just... SO dumb most of the time and its both hilarious and endearing. But I suppose that the one thing I do love most is how incredibly flirtatious he is. There are a surprising amount of shorts where the main plot is just him trying to win the affections of a lady cat (sadly he almost never succeeds) and I always LOVE watching him be super flirty and affectionate cuz every time I'm like "god I wish that were me". At one point in the show, someone even states that "every time he sees a dame, he falls in love" aND THAT SINGLE LINE... that line gives me very many hopes for my ship with him π₯Ίπ
OKAY LAST QUESTION, my fave aspect present in multiple shorts? Absolutely 100% hands-down the Tom Scream (altho funny enough its not exclusive to Tom.) I think you know exactly what I'm talking about >:3c William Hanna did nearly all the voice work for the shorts, including the numerous yells of pain, and for some reason his yell is just SO POWERFUL, literally every time I hear it, it's absolutely hilarious to me. Even now I'm just thinking about it and trying not to laugh.
