Me, writing a modern AU fic: but in SVSSS SQQ is oblivious because he's in a stallion xianxia novel where he sees himself forever as the Villian archetype that would NEVER get a love interest let alone a queer one. He's a bit unobservant but it makes sense why he would assume people aren't pursuing him. To fit that in a modern lens takes some clever deep dives into Shen Yuan as a character, and how he views himself with modern times and restrictions.
