Wrong on so Many Levels 3/3 (Darnell Hayes x reader)
Summary: Y/N is Corey's adoptive daughter and Darnell has a crush on her.
Notes: implied sexual themes, GIF is not mine

You didn't even realize you feel asleep until you opened your eyes at the sound of the door creaking open. "Rise and shine baby," Darnell's voice washed over you like honey but you didn't want to leave the bed yet. You groan and flip over on your stomach and buried your face into the pillows.
"Oh come on, baby. You've been in bed for twelve hours," you continued to groan until you felt kisses trail up your back and to your neck. "Please," you finally lifted your head and layed on your side. "Fine, I'll get up." "Thank you," you make eye contact for the first time that morning.
He presses his hands into the bed and leaned forward until his lips captured yours. You hum into the kiss and pulled him on top of you. "Time to have my breakfast," he says, trail his finger tips up your thigh. Kissing down your stomach, you arch your back into him but he pushed you back down.
Attacking your thighs with hickeys, you lean on your elbows and watch him work. "You're doing to be the death of me, you know that?" "Hey, you're no picnic either sweetheart."
"Excuse me," you say with fake hurt. You sit up and shove him onto his back while pinning his arms to his sides. "You wanna play? Let's play,"
**
Darnell makes you happy and he helps out with a lot of things that you didn't even ask him to do. He even helped you get closer to Corey. You poured you heart out to him. So Darnell is more than ready to go public with you but you didn't want Spencer or Dillon to feel uncomfortable so you were trying to figure out the right time to tell them- your entire family actually.
After a couple days, you figured that Homecoming is a good a time as any. You, Kia and Patience told the rest of the crew that they would meet them at the dance. You all spend the entire morning getting ready and your outfit was finally complete.
You pull into the parking spot and you all pile out of the car. Walking towards the entrance you give the bouncer the ticket before walking in. You expect to see your crew dancing among themselves but instead you saw Spencer arguing Chris and Coop trying to meditate.
Then you saw a girl dancing on Darnell and him trying to get away from her but she follows him. "Uh oh," Coop says once she notices Y/N and the rest of her girls by her side.
"What?" Spencer says. "Nothing," Coop states, realizing that he doesn't know about you and Darnell yet.
Well he's about to now. You walk over to the girl and Kia and Patience went over to Coop. Standing between him and the girl. "Hey what ha-" she stops in her tracks when she turns around to see you.
"He's taken. Find someone else." You tell her without breaking eye contact, challenging her to say anything stupid.
She just stands there and you press your chest to hers. "Beat it, spray tan." You snap and she walks away with her cheeks burning red. "Y/N, I-" you raise your hand up, telling him to stop talking. "Come on, baby." He calls after you when you walk away from him.
"'baby'?" Spencer repeats. "Wait a minute, are y'all?" He adds. "Ohhhhh, oh shit." Chris says once realization hits. "Wait, Coop, you know about this?" Spencer said, motioning to you and Darnell arguing. "You have to be blind to not see what was going on between them." Coop says.
"Just spend the night with whoever you want to spend the night with, and I'll do the same." You tell him before grabbing Kia and dragging her to the dance floor. "So you and Darnell huh?" She says linking her other hand with yours while you sway to the music.
"Yeah," "How long has that been going on?" "A few weeks," "So that's why you'be been acting different... happier." "I've been acting different?" "Uh duh, yes you've been acting different. You've been smiling for once." "Oh so you're saying that I was miserable before him, huh?"
"Girl if you don't cut it out. Quit putting words in my mouth," she states. "Sorry," "Look, you're mad right now because you care, okay? And Darnell cares about you too so stop worrying and have fun." she encourages.
"Don't Stop" came on and the people shout in agreement before forming a circle for grinding. Kia drags me into the circle and turns around to twerk. Your hands find her hips and your roll to the rhythm of hers.
"Oh shit, I forgot that your sister can move Spencer," Jordan says, earning a glare from Spencer and Darnell. "Whoa, relax, it was just a joke." Jordan says, holding his hands up in surrender. "Yeah, well, it was a bad joke." Spencer says.
"Jeez, what has you guys in a mood? It's homecoming," "Darnell has been secretly dating my sister," Spencer says. "Oh... is she happy?" Jordan asks. "That's what you have to say about this whole situation? There are so many things wrong with this." Spencer starts.
"Sure, for you maybe. But I've noticed how much happier she was. I didn't want to say anything and potentially ruin it, but if Darnell is the reason she's happy. You should be thanking him instead of scolding him for treating her right," Jordan explains.
"Amen to that, my Beverly brotha." Coop says, offering him a dap and he takes it. "He's not wrong, Spence." Chris says and Spencer looks over to you dancing with Kia with a big grin on your face.
You truly were happy and Spencer feels really stupid not seeing that. He was so caught up with preparing for the homecoming game, he didn't notice how different you were. "Feelin' better?" "Yeah," you say, a little out of breath.
"Good, go get your boo while I flirt with Jordan," "Oh wow, kick me to the curb I see," she wraps an arm around your waist and drags you back to the group.
You stood next to Darnell with a guilty look on your face. "I-" "I forgive you," he interrupts your impending rant. "You didn't even hear what I had to say,"
"I didn't need to. Your face said everything," he kisses your forehead and you close your eyes for a moment to lean into his touch. Completely forget where you are, your eyes snap open and look to Spence.
"Spencer, I'm sorry I didn't tell you before. I was just-" "I forgive you too." "What?" "Look, you're happier than I ever seen you." Darnell presses another kiss to your temple.
"Thank you," you tell Spencer and he pulls you in for a warm hug that lasted a few seconds. Once he pulled away, Chris pulled you in for a hug too, then Coop, then Patience, then Kia, then Jordan. "Look at that, everyone is all lovey dovey now," you say, making the group laugh.
Darnell spoons you and kisses your shoulder. "Ew PDA," Coop says, eliciting a smack from Patience. "Ouch, why'd you do that?" she scolds. "Watch those hands," Spencer tells Darnell, making you chuckle.

Summary: The Reader is Corey's adoptive daughter and Darnell has a crush as soon as he meets her

--
Walking up the steps to your house as you come back from the gym. The hairs on the back of your neck stands up as soon as you reach for the door knob. Something wasn't right. You lean in close to the front door so you could hear who was talking. You heard Spencer, Mom and an oddly familiar male voice.
You turn the knob and walk into the house, your jaw clenching when you make eye contact with your estranged Dad. "Y/N, look at you. Growing into a strong young woman." No thanks to you, you say in your head. "Corey," you say with a soft nod.
You look over to Spencer, shaking his head with angry tears spilling from his eyes and you immediately walk over to him.
Rubbing his back, he turns his face into your chest and you held him. You send Mom a look and she says, "I think it's time for you to go." "Alright, if that's what you want. But I wanted y'all to know that I'm here to stay. No matter how hard you try to push me away." He confesses before leaving the house. Mom comes around and hugs the both of us.
In all honesty, you're so tired from the gym that you didn't have any energy left to cry or to be angry. It's the biggest way that you used to cope when he left the first time.
"Why can't he just leave us alone like he did all these years? Why did he have to come back?" Spencer croaks. "I don't know, Spence. This all seems so random. Where's Dillon?" "After school program," Mom answers. "Thank God." Spencer pulls away from your chest and you rest your forehead on his.
"Whatever plan he has, we'll have each other's back through and through. Alright?" He nods. You pat his shoulder before advancing to the shower and taking a nap after a long day.
**
Walking out of school, you see Corey leaning on his parked car out front. Once he sees you, he starts walking towards you. "Hey baby," "What are you doing here, Corey?" "I just came here to talk. One on one." "You have ten minutes because I'm feeling generous today," you state.
"I uh.. I know that saying sorry is taken as a grain of salt, but I truly am sorry. I never meant to hurt you or Spencer or Dillon-" "No, you just meant to hurt Mom. Which in turn hurt us." You interrupt. "You can't even deny it, can you? Mom's mistake hurt you and you wanted to hurt her back."
"Y/N, I can't possibly imagine what you had done through to keep the family together when I was gone." "You're right you can't. We're done here." You make a step towards your car. "Y/N, please." "Do you know how much of a toll it is to feel like you're never good enough? Do you have any idea, Dad?"
He just stares at you, giving the floor to speak. "It affects everything. It affects how I view myself. It affects friendships, my romantic relationships. Everything. I hit a low spot. I didn't want to worry Mom so I dealt with it on my own and as hard as that was, I came out better on the other side. But that was no thanks to you," you state.
"I know I had nothing to do with you being the strong woman you are today. But something that took me a while to learn was that there is strength in vulnerability." "Well I unfortunately don't have that luxury," you take a moment to look at him and you hated how he had regret written all over his face.
That only made it that much harder to hate him. "Why did you adopt me if you were going to leave?" You croak. "I don't expect you to understand," "Then help me understand because you can't just show up here like a whirlwind without any answers to our questions. If you're truly here to stay, you at least owe us that."
"Hey, Corey, I was- oh sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt," a boy approaches us. He's the new kid from Nevada. You thought it was just a coincidence but guess not. "Darnell, this is someone I wanted you to meet. This is my daughter, Y/N." Corey introduces.
"Nice to meet you," Darnell extends his hand and you dap him up, heat travels to your cheeks when his hand comes into contact yours. "I have to go," "Are you-" "This was a mistake. You can try to work on your relationship with Spencer and Dillon because our bridge has burned."
"Y/N!" He calls after you but you were gone for good.
**
"What you gonna do pretty boy?" You hear some kid say. Any normal day and you wouldn't bat an eye. Fights break out all the time but this time in particular felt different. You look over your shoulder and saw three guys rolling up on Darnell.
You let out an annoyed huff and stroll over to them. Setting down your bookbag on the floor, you cross your arms and clear your throat to get your attention. Darnell turns around with a surprised look on his face.
"What are you doing here?" You step in front of him and walk towards the boys. "Yeah whatchu going here? You lost, lil miss?" "It seems to me that you're lost. See this is the math wing and I'm pretty sure you failed the same precalc class for the past year." You say. Darnell laughs behind you and the boy makes a stride towards you.
You don't so much as flinch when he does so. You step close to him and say, "My score is 20-0 for now. Care to make it 23?" You look to the other guys, none of which make eye contact. "Whatever man, she ain't gonna be around to protect you all the time, young blood."
"He runs with me, Terrance. Mess with him and our fight will come along sooner." You tell him. Grabbing your bookbag, you pat Darnell's chest and motion him to follow you. "Thank you, you didn't have to do that."
"Terrance and his crew fight dirty," "What did you mean by score?" "I practically Muay Thai. It's a martial that's very similar to Western boxing."
"Oh yeah, Corey mentioned you liked fighting." "I don't look for fights. Just being in the gym.. It's my safe place." "Nah I get it," "Keep your head up, you'll be fine." You went your separate ways until he calls after you.
"Hey," "Hay is for horses, my name is Y/N," "Sorry, I just wanted you to know that I never meant to throw your world upside down. You or yours siblings. I just wanted to play ball." He confessed. "You aren't a part of the problem," you say before walking into your classroom.

Married Mistakes (All American)
Summary: Y/N is Jordan's best friend but they used to date. She finds out that Jordan married Simone and she is heartbroken.
Characters: Spencer x reader (platonic), Mrs. Baker x reader (platonic), Mr. Baker x reader (platonic), Olivia x reader (platonic), Jordan x reader (romantic)
--
Sitting next to Jordan at the sports bar, you scrolled through Instagram lazily. "Hey, you okay?" Jordan nudges your shoulder and you snap out of your thoughts. "Hm?"
"You alright?" "Yeah I'm just tired." You say with a small stretch. "Maybe shark week's comin',". Resting your head on the table, you say, "Probably."
"Come on, I'll stop by the store and get everything on your shark week care package." You hum as he rubs your back softly. "Such a life saver," you say softly. You've been best friends with Jordan since middle school and dated through most of high school until junior year.
Things got complicated and stressful from him getting recruits attention and you getting recognition from law firms, you didn't have time for each other romantically.
So you decided to take a break before you remained as friends. There were moments where the flame was reignited but you didn't want to go through the motions again once the college life rolls over.
He stands up from the table and takes your hand into his as you advance towards the door. You both stop in your tracks when you see Simone walking in with a tight grip on her purse. Her eyes falls to you and Jordan's intertwined hands and you pull away from him.
He looks at you with confusion and hurt as you rub the sides of your arms nervously. Simone sets her purse on the ground and takes off her earrings. "I'd had enough of this." "No, baby. Please." Jordan says, stepping between you and Simone.
"She doesn't know boundaries. I don't care if you two used to date, you're dating me now. So either she respects that or I'm gone." Simone says.
"Aren't you taking the girlfriend label a little too seriously?" "I'm more than just his girlfriend," "Simone, don't." Jordan interrupts. "I'm his wife. We're married and we've been married for months." She snaps and it felt like a dagger piercing your heart.
"What?" "I'm sorry, Y/N. I was going to tell you," "Obviously not because you kept it secret from me for months. God, do your parents even know?" "I'm working on it," "Unbelievable," you say, anger burning your cheeks.
You push passed Simone and you hear footsteps behind you. He tries to hold you back by your arm."Y/N, please. Just listen to me, don't shut me out."
"You did that all on your own. Let go of me and lose my number." You snap out of his grip and wipe away your tears angrily. You walk down the street to your car and drive away.
Since what happened at the sports bar, you've been as distant as possible. Which was harder than you expected, because you were more than just Jordan's best friend, you were a close friend to Mrs. Baker, Mr. Baker and Olivia.
You had family nights all the time and made a lot of fun memories. Now you had to distance yourself from them and that broke your heart.
But pushing passed all of it, you know it's for the best. You were walking out of the gym when you feel your phone vibrate in your bag. Pulling it out of that bag, you click answer and said, "Hello?" "Y/N, it's Jordan. He's in the hospital. He's hurt and he woke wake up." Olivia rants.
"What? How did that happen? You know what, nevermind, I'll meet you there." "Okay," "Y/N?" "Yeah," "I missed you," she says after a small pause. "I missed you too, Liv. I never meant to shut you guys out."
"When Jordan gets better, you're going to make up. I don't care what either of you have to say," "Agreed," you say with a chuckle.
"See you when you get here," she says. "Hey Liv," "Yeah," "He'll be okay." There were perks of Beverly Hills High School being a few blocks from the hospital, and for good reason. Within five minutes, you're rushing into the ER and run straight into Spencer.
"Oh, sorry, Spence," you say. "You're good. Come 'er girl, I've missed you." He says, opening his arms. Wrapping your arms around his, you sigh as he rocks you back and forth. "I'm sorry for distancing myself from you guys." "Don't be, you were hurtin' 'cause of Jordan. I understand that." He states.
"Never change, Spencer James. Never change." "You gotta it, ma. Hey guys, come over and show Y/N some love." "Wait, guys, you don't have to. I-" "Believe me when I say we all need this," Olivia says. Olivia, Mrs. Baker, Mr. Baker and Spencer all embrace you at once and sigh in unison.
"We missed you," Mrs. Baker says. "I missed you too." Simone stares at the bunch hugging each other and she crosses her arms. Y/N will always be a part of Jordan's family, she sees that now. "Y/N, is there a Y/N here?" A nurse asks.
"Uh, yes, that's me." You say, pulling away from everyone reluctantly. "He's asking for you," she says. You look to Mrs. Baker and she nods. "It's okay." You rush into the room to see Jordan staring at you. "Y/N," he says as he sits up on the bed.
You click the button that pulls down the bed side and pull him into your arms. "You scared the hell out of me," you says with your voice muffled against his shoulder. He tightens his grip on you but you were careful not to do the same and potentially hurt him more.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I made a mistake-" "Sh, let's leave the past in the past. You just worry about getting better." "Thats the thing, the doctor just told me that he doesn't think I'll be able to play football for the rest of the year," he explains.
Pulling away from him, you say, "What? Did he say why?" "Apparently I've taken too many hits to the head before the previous concussion had a chance to heal. Any more hits and it could lead to permanent brain damage," "Oh my God, Jordan. He doesn't know does he?" You ask, referencing to Mr. Baker.
"No, you're the first to know." "What? Not even Simone." He shakes his head. "Why?" "You're family, Y/N. Not even an argument can take you away from the Baker family." He says, taking your hand into his. "When do you want to tell them?" "I'm not sure, but until then." He motions to the empty space next to him on the bed.
"I don't know if that's such a good idea. I just got out of the gym when Olivia ca-" Jordan continues to pat the spot until you huff annoyingly as you sit down next to him. Still holding your hand, he asked, "Do you know what I dreamed about when I was under?" "What?"
"Chris' party." You shot him a look and say, "Out of all the memories, you chose a party where you clocked a guy and he clocked you back and I had to bring your unconscious body back to my house."
"Well that part wasn't in the dream, you were. You looked beautiful, you still do." "Thank you," "Y/N, I made a mistake." "Jordan, I don't please. Not here." You say, pulling away from his hand.
"Then where?" "Jordan, are you okay?" Mrs. Baker says with Olivia, Spencer, Simone and Mr. Baker rushing behind her. "The doctor came with some not so great news." Jordan says but trails off as he looks to me.
You explained what happened to the lot of them and they called the doctor back in to give them all the options to consider.
You fell asleep in Jordan's room until Mrs. Baker woke me up. "Hey, honey, you're more than welcome to go home and take a shower. Jordan is asleep." You nod and stretch your body as you stand up from the chair. "So when are you going to tell him," she asks.
"About the internship," she adds. "Right, I forgot you were well connected in Boston." You rub the back of your neck nervously.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for you. You'll do great in Boston. But I think you should tell him and soon so you can get a chance to say goodbye." "You're right. Maybe over dinner? He's discharged within two days right?" She nods and you add, "That'll be enough time."
**
The dinner went better than you thought. Everyone was understanding when you announced that you would be moved to Boston by the end of the month. They wished you the best and said that they believe in you.
Jordan was more quiet on the manner than you expected, but it went better and you didn't feel guilty anymore.
Walking down the stairs from your bedroom, you rubbed your hair dry with the towel. A knock on the door raises your suspicions as it was twelve o'clock in the morning. "Y/N, it's me," Jordan says through the door. "Jordan," you say to yourself before answering the door.
He walks in and walks a few paces down the hallway before turning back around to face you. "Why are you acting weird?" You ask. "Why are you leaving?" He retorts. "Because it's what best for me and my future. Summer is here in a few weeks and I earned the credit for the school year already." You explain.
"I.." he trails off before running a hand over his face. "I made a mistake marrying Simone," "Jordan, don't-" "No, Y/N, let me talk for once please." He interupts. "I have feelings for you and I thought that dedicating my entire life to someone would make that go away but it only made things worse."
"This is marriage we're talking about. Commitment. It's not something that you can just jump in and jump back out."
"I know," "What were you thinking!" "I was thinking about you! Getting over you was the first thing on my mind when I married her." "That is so messed up, Jordan! Simone is a human being, you can't just use her like that."
"I thought I had no other choice. She's in love with me and wants to be around me every second of every day. I felt pressured..." He trails off.
"So what should I do?" He adds. "Stay with her. Try to make things work, and I mean physically and mentally." You state. "And what if that doesn't work?"
"You're asking the wrong person about this. Your parents are married, ask them." "My parents want to murder me for marrying Simone and not telling them,"
"They'll forgive you for that, and they'll forgive you for this. Just give them time to process." "What about us?" "Us? There is no us? Not anymore." "Don't say that," "I'm serious, Jordan." You drape the towel over your shoulder and walked into the kitchen. You grabbed a pan and set it in the stove.
Instead of turning the stove on, you press your hands on the cold surface of the counter top and sigh deeply. You feel his hand graze over your bare shoulder and your body betrays you as it eases under his touch. Leaning your head into his chest, his hands trail down your arms and interlace them with yours.
"Tell me you didn't miss this," he whispers into your ear and you pull away from his warmth. "You're married," you say softly. "My heart doesn't belong to her, and it never will." He holds your face in his hands and you look away from him. "Look at me." You slowly meet his gaze and he doesn't think twice about kissing you.
He takes his time trailing his hands up and down your body. When he finally pulls away from your lips, you were gasping for air. He leaves soft kisses down the base of your neck and you cup the back of his head encouragingly. He hooks one of your legs around his waist and rubs himself against your crotch, making you moan out.
He wraps your other leg around his waist and lifts you off the ground. His lips locked with yours as he advances up the steps and into the bedroom he knows so well.
Leave Us Alone (All American)
Spencer and Jordan snap on Y/N, Y/N goes into a spiral and starts drinking // trigger warning: substance abuse
Times between the Baker family and James family are tense and most of all, emotional. Since Mom told me and Spencer and her affair with Billy, things haven't been the same. But when Corey left for the second time, things were at an all time low.
I just got up from my nap when I hear Spencer yelling. I rush out of my room to see Spencer, Ma, Billy and Dillon talking on the couch. "What's happening out here?" "You didn't know? Cory left again." Spencer said. "What? Are you serious?" "You would know if you weren't sleeping all the time." He snaps.
"All right smart guy. You try being a full time student AND a full time worker." "Why were you yelling in the first place?" I add. "I'm tired of going through the same emotions again. I'm tired of being angry." "Well that didn't seem like a happy yell to me. And why were you yelling at Dillon like he was the reason for Corey leaving or something."
"He needs to know that this is what Corey does." "That doesn't mean that you get to control how he feels. Everyone is entitled to their feelings. You are acting like a complete douche right now." "And how are you not angry? Is that because he's just your adoptive dad and not your real dad? Or are you just used to it because your real parent were abusive addicts?"
"Spencer, that's enough." Grace steps in. "Like I said, a douche." I walk back into my room and throw my duffel bag on the bed. I shove a few outfits, my tooth brush, perfume, deodorant and my favorite pair of kicks. "Honey, Spencer didn't-- and just where do you think you're going." "According to Spencer, I'm not your daughter at all, Grace. So I'll just find my way out."
"You're being ridiculous, baby. Of course you're my daughter. I raised you like you were my own." "Exactly, like, not am. I don't belong here." "Y/N," I swing my duffel bag over my shoulder and slide passed her. I walk passed everyone in the living room and didnt bother saying another word. "Y/N, please don't leave." Dillon says.
I stop in my tracks and close my eyes as I try to hold back my tears. I walk over to him and kneeled in front of where he was sitting. He already had tears rolling down his face. "I'm not mad at you kiddo. I could never do that. You mean the world to me, alright. Don't ever forget that."
I press a warm kiss on his forehead before leaving. "Y/N, where are you going?" "Somewhere," I close the door behind me and walk to the nearest bus station. Truthfully, I don't know what to do or where to go. Jordan and I haven't been talking since he found out about the affair. But maybe he can help me through this.
**
Third Person POV
Y/N took three buses to get to Beverly Hills and knocked on the door. Olivia answers the door and says, "Y/N, hey." "Hey, is Jordan here? Things aren't going all that great with the family." "Uh, no, he's not-" Olivia trails off when she seems Jordan with some random girl on his arm.
Y/N turns around to see the same thing and her heart sunk into her chest. Jordan didn't say anything about breaking up. Y/N thought that he was just busy with football. Jordan looks up and locked eyes with Y/N. "Damn it," Jordan says.
"What the hell Jordan, you didnt even bother breaking up with her?!" Olivia snaps. "I thought she knew how to take a hint." Jordan says. Y/N sighs deeply and pressed her lips together in thought. "Guess I don't, huh?"
She went down the stairs and body checked Jordan as she walked passed him. She took the long way to the bus station and she came to conclusion of going back to her hometown, San Francisco. And getting back into with some of her old friends.
Grace wouldn't call them friends because they exposed her to alcohol and drugs, but at least they were loyal to Y/N. Which is more than Y/N can say for Spencer and Jordan. She took next bus to San Francisco and turned off her phone. It was passed midnight when Y/N arrived in San Francisco but she knew that her friends would be around.
They were mainly night owls anyway. She knocked on the door of one of her exes: Samuel. He opens the door and his eyes widen in shock. "Y/N?" "You still have an empty guest room?" "Yeah, c-come in." he stumbles. It's been years since Sam saw Y/N, and to him, she was as beautiful as ever.
She sits down on the couch and sets her duffel bag on the floor next to her. Sam sits on the couch across from her. "What are you doing so far from home?" "I don't belong there anymore... I never did." "Why? What happened?"
"When you're going through a painful time in your life, you pull the people you care about closer to you." "And to them, I wasn't that important. So I left." "And came back to your hometown. What if your parent find you?" "They know to stay the hell away from me."
"Y/N, it's too dangerous for you here. You've been gone too long to know the streets." "Then reteach me. It can be like old times." "Old times where we would get drunk most nights and wake up not knowing where we were?" "Those days weren't so bad. At least we had each other. Now, I have no one."
They sit in silence for a moment before Sam asks, "I have some beer." "That's a start," Y/N says as he gets up from the couch. He pops open two beer bottles and hands one to Y/N. Y/N takes it and stares at it for a moment, thinking about how many years she's been sober.
Primarily because she didn't feel the need to drink. She drank to help herself forget just how fucked up her life is. And now, it's like she ended up right back where she started. She takes a large swig of the beer and sighs as she feels the cold liquid rush down her throat.
Trust (All American)
Darnell moves into the James house and wants Y/N to visit. She reluctantly visits and Spencer spazzes out. Darnell and Spencer argue.
"Babe, I'm not entirely sure this is the greatest idea." I say to Darnell over the phone as I cook some noodles.
"Come on, baby. I miss you. We haven't gotten any chance to hang out since I thought I was going back to Germany with my mom." He says. "I know that, but.. I just know how Spencer is going to react. It's not going to be good."
"You know I got your back, Y/N/N." After a long pause, I sigh before saying, "Alright." "Okay," "Yes! See you tonight," "See ya," I hang up and rest my forehead against the cabinet.

I knock on the door and seconds later, Spencer opens the door. A breath hitches in my throat and he says, "Well look who finally shows up." "I, uh, I'm here to see Darnell,"
"You're here to see Darnell? After everything that went down, and you're here for Darnell?" "What else do you want me to say, Spencer?" "I want you to talk to me, Y/N!"
I bit my tongue to prevent me from snapping on him. Instwad, I said, "I'll just come back later." "Ayo, what's your problem? That's my girlfriend right there." Darnell defends. "She was my sister before she was girlfriend, aight."
"Then she's more of my girlfriend than she is your sister because I would never talk to her like that." Darnell nears Spencer and I say, "Darnell stop, I'll come back later." I spin on my heel and walk down the steps.
"Y/N, wait," Darnell calls after me and I feel a warm hand on my wrist. I turn around and he pulls me in for a hug. I take a deep breath and embrace his warmth. He rests his head on top of mine and I say, "I told you that was how it would go down." "And I told you that I would have your back, wouldn't I?"
"Yeah, you did." I tuck my hands under his shirt and he presses a warm kiss on my lips. "Y/N?" I pull away from Darnell when I see Grace and Dillon walking through the gate. "Hey, Grace." Before I could say another word, Dillon runs into my arms and I wrap my arms around his head.
"You came back," he says and my heart nearly shatters. I look to Darnell to see him shrugging his shoulders. "I missed you too, lil man." I say, rubbing his back. He holds me tighter and I look up at Grace. "I think it's about time we had a talk." "I agree," Grace states.
