Sometimes the right thing and the best thing and the good thing and the thing you want are four different things, and you have to try to figure out which one of them will do the least amount of damage.

I only ever made one choice that wasn't for the sake of my family, and I'll pay for it until the day I die. Doesn't mean it was the wrong choice. Just means that sometimes the right thing can hurt like hell.

Until Thomas came along, I wasn't sure that girl was ever going to fall in love with anything the way she fell in love with the forest. Or that anything was ever going to love her back the way that forest did.

Alice doesn't trust fast, but once she decides it's safe to trust at all, she trusts absolutely. I love that girl, but it's going to get her killed one of these days, and I don't know what I'm going to do when that happens.
