Fili had been traveling for a few days on the road, only stopping to make camp. His thoughts had been getting the best of him lately and the only true way to distract himself was often times traveling without thought of where he would end up. It was always a surprise, and sometimes a delight. The last village he had gone through had been interesting, but it had reminded him all too much of old memories, so he quickly took his leave.

The next village over, he hoped, would be different. As he looked towards the horizon, he spotted someone. Curious, he cautiously made his way closer, eyes widening as he could finally make the figure out.

They looked like... a large cat. A very large cat. They also looked... human-shaped? Fili’s eyes blinked a few times, wondering if the day’s heat had finally gotten to him.

It was raining on the path, a thick and heavy deluge that seemed to blind the hobbit. His footing was lost in the rain, his hand desperately grasping at the side of the path lined with trees. Although he considered himself a rather clever adventurer after his formidable journey, it was decidedly stupid of him to try and continue down the path to the next settlement rather than staying at the last town’s cozy inn.

Traveling alone was likely not the most cunning idea either, and Bilbo cursed his lack of forethought. When he lost his footing and his stomach seemed to drop to his feet while his heart rose into his throat, Bilbo could feel himself falling. After all his had lived through, his luck was going to run dry now? Involuntarily and rather inappropriately, Bilbo grimaced at the thought.

—{ ᴢɪ’ʀɪɪᴋ }—                  Being a housecarl wasn’t so bad, not too bad with the young vampire hunter, anyway. The khajiit had tried housecarling a few times since his escape in Helgen. Though he only ever felt like a wandering cat or a mule to carry their loot around them, rather than someone of service, someone with a decent battle history. Zi’riik was a good fighter. He liked getting into the skirmishes, face to face with his opponent. He didn’t want to be an extra set of arms to carry the spoils of some mercenary with something to compensate for.

                  But he liked Haaki. It seemed like he was actually allowed to get into the grit of battle with the boy. None of this ‘hold my things and stay here, I’ll be right back’ nonsense. He was of real use to the hunter.
