Bloody Bones || Murphy x Bill

Bill nodded as she released his hand, pulling the glove back on. âAll on my lonesome, maâam. We wizards ainât exactly the most social oâ people.â That and taking others through the Ways tended to be a bit more dangerous than going alone, especially with folks not quite powerful enough to be on the Council themselves.
The grin left his face a little more as he crossed his arms, the better to keep them from his obvious weapons, and casually glanced behind him. âWhy, you think I brought some stray with me anâ Iâll ask you to keep âem? Last thing I wantâs for somethinâ to get this meetinâ off on the wrong foot.â He jerked his head to the side towards the living room windows. âIâm gonna take a guess anâ say the reason for the windows anâ fresh paintâs why youâre a bit on edge? Whoever did that cleanup missed a holeâr two while he was plugginâ âem. Paint dinâ quite even out over âem.â He glanced over toward her once more, seeing if there was a reaction at his words. âTake it whoever it was hit your house with a bit more firepowerân that nine against your leg there.â
Murphyâs brow lifted at his question about strays. If he only frickinâ knew. Seemed like somehow sheâd gone from âthat idiot who follows Dresden aroundâ to âthat idiot who can be suckered into helping every limping halfcocked hero in the city.â
At least he was alone. Or, said he was. So far he hadnât given her a reason to distrust him -- but frankly, nowadays, she wasnât so sure she should be relying on that. Evil wore a friendly face. Her nightmares reminded her of that often.
Following his gaze for a moment before snapping it back to him she nodded along to his assessment. âYeah.â Well, sure, one of about ninety things that had her on edge. She was still pretty pissed about her house. Her grandmother would have had a conniption. âI was in a hurry.â She refused to admit she hadnât actually spackled before and was just too damn lazy about it to try to do more than slap some paint on. Glancing again through his eyes she cringed at her own workmanship. Ugh. Better to do it right, Karrin...
Her fingers reflexively tightened on the Sig at her side and she clenched her jaw for a moment before relaxing her grip. He was right. Sure, sheâd freaked out a Gruff with this very gun, taken out a Winter Lady... but come right down to it -- Harryâs firepower had been a lot more than hers.
âYeah.â Stepping back she jerked her head, âCome in outta the cold.â
