In a small village, located in a beautiful kingdom, was a dark-haired man known as the Raven Witch, who was always seen walking with his raven familiars not so far behind and while he had a few enemies due to refusing them services, such as casting spells that would control others and making them a love potion, though most of his enemies simply hated him for what he was, going as far as accusing him of ruining their crops or sending his corvids down to destroy their harvest.
It got to a point where the royal guard was sent to ransack the witch's hut to find evidence of a crime and no matter how hard he plead his case or how many villagers who he had helped in the past vouched for his whereabouts when those incidents occurred, most of the Raven Witch's valuables had been destroyed in the search and just as he was about to heavily consider violence for once, a loud voice demanding the guards to know what was going on at once pulled him out of his violent musing while also bringing a shocked gasp out of everyone there.
For the one who spoke was no other than Prince Robert Gadling, who just so happened to have been taking a stroll down the village market when he heard the commotion and from the stern look on his face, he wasn't too happy with his guards actions but when they explained what had happened, his ire only grew tenfold as he sternly asked them if they had proof that the incidents that have been happening were truly his doing and not baseless accusations made by those who wanted to see the raven-haired sorcerer gone before tasking his men to replace everything that they had destroyed during their search.
Just as the prince was about to resume his walk, the witch quickly ran up to him to thank him profusely for his help, adding that if there was anything that Robert needed, then he'd be happy to help but the prince told him that he didn't have to repay him in anyway, that it was his duty to watch over his people but that if the Raven Witch really insisted on it, then he would very much like to know his name and when Dream obliged, the prince asked him if he would like to accompany him on his stroll so that he could get to know the area better, to which Dream happily agreed.
After showing his new friend Robert ;who told him that he'd prefer if Dream would call him Hob when they were alone; around the village, the Raven Witch and the prince parted ways after the latter promised to return to the village for another visit, leaving the witch very happy as he went back to his hut, eager to see him the next day.
But instead of being greeted by the kind prince, Dream found himself interrogated by the royal guard, rudely demanding to know if he had done something to the prince and when the Raven Witch asked what did all the accusations come from, he was handed a letter written by Roderick Burgess, Prince Robert's advisor, accusing him of using witchcraft to curse the heir to the throne to fall into a deep slumber that he was unable to wake from and if the accusation itself wasn't already bad, Dream was to be burned at the stake for his crime.
Furious, the Raven Witch ran back inside his hut, grabbing a few skulls and trinkets for the road before running off in the forest in the hopes of finding the elusive Bone Witch, who was said to be able to bring light to any mystery just by consulting his bones, even finding lost things in exchange for skulls and shiny things.
After being invited into the skull-faced witch's hut, Dream sat down at the table, briefly explaining that he had a problem that needed solving but didn't elaborate on it further, which didn't seem to bother the Bone Witch as he consulted his bones to find the answer, only to learn nothing, causing the sorcerer to frown deeply as he tried again, finding it quite odd that there was no answer, not once looking up when Dream quietly left, heading over to his hut to write a letter for Hob to receive if he would ever wake up.
Just as he sealed it however, he heard Roderick Burgess calling out to him from just outside his door, demanding that he follows him at once so that he can be properly sentenced, to which Dream reluctantly agreed but the minute that he followed the older man, the raven-haired witch was stunned to see the Bone Witch burning a letter with a look of anger on his face, loudly demanding to know who thought it was funny to send him an invitation to a public burning and when Roderick tried to defend himself, the skull-faced sorcerer known as Hobo Heart muttered a spell to sew the man's mouth shut before declaring that Dream was not the one who had put the prince in a long sleep, that it had to be someone else powerful enough to conceal their tracks and that since the royal guard was far too dimwitted to do a proper job, then the Bone Witch himself would find the culprit by himself and while his words made Burgess very angry, they instead brought Dream a lot of hope, for he wanted to be able to see Hob smile once again.
it's Bone Witch Detective time!!! *unleashes a bunch of crows and ravens while cackling in glee*
