Helion Spell-cleaver, High Lord of Day Court
1 & 8 for the asks?
Whatâs your personal favourite thing you wrote this year?
hmm this is a hard one, but I think Axiom of Maria was my favorite! I really love what I did with my writing style and show donât tell and I think itâs my favorite fic of mine :)
Which fic this year was most fun to write?
Now fun is an ENTIRELY different scale. I have the most fun writing fics with weird perspectives and tense changes so obviously his own god is a favorite but Iâve had a lot of fun writing my current WIP Extinction Event!
End of the year asks
Vaderâs galaxy shifted on its axis, and suddenly there was a bright, bright soul at the centre of it.
In an instant, nothing else mattered â not the Death Star, not the Rebels, not even the Empire or his master himself; nothing mattered to him beyond the existence of the boy whose tiny, holographic form brazenly declared âIâm Luke Skywalker, Iâm here to rescue you!â
For far too many years, he and the boy both had been lied to, deceived and manipulated to serve the purposes of those who would seek to control them.
In time, he would personally see to the suffering of all who had kept them apart, but there were far more pressing matters to attend to at the moment.
His first priority had to be securing the boy â he could not be permitted to leave the station.
Then, once his son was firmly within his grasp, he could begin to reconcile the fundamental shift to his existence and the radiant being that now resided in its core.
Send me the first sentence of a fic and Iâll write the next five (ish) sentences

If youâre still doing the tarot prompts, the Magician or the Star?
send me a card and / or character(s) or a ship, and Iâll write a ficlet based around one or more words associated with a tarot card ask prompts never expire, Iâm just slow and my inspiration is always selective.but! I will do both !! (just not at the same time lol.) First:The Magician: sky, mystery, power, talent
Somewhere, out in the vast expanse of the galaxy, nestled amongst the stars as though they were the only home theyâd ever known, existed a pilot who demanded his attention. Not consciously, by any means; he was certain that whoever they were, they had little idea how they resonated through the Force, beckoning to him. Regardless, Darth Vader would admit that the sheer, raw strength of this unknown individual intrigued him.
He had first taken notice of the individual about three years prior.Â
Following the conclusion on business conducted on behalf of his master, Vader would rarely â and perhaps foolishly â partake in the barest of personal indulgences. Typically, this would take the form of some manner of cathartic saber or Force use, striking out in a manner some might call over zealous. On this unprecedented instance, however, he felt drawn to, of all things, a speeder race.
Observation only, of course â he would not indulge so far as to actually participate in one without any direct purpose. His interest in mechanics and vehicles, however, had not dwindled. He did enjoy observing the skills of others, on occasion, if only to measure how they compared to his own. Typically, he would be unimpressed. He did not expect to be impressed. And he was never impressed beyond the level of grudging respect he offered to members of Black Squadron until his first encounter with the pilot on Nar Shadaa.
The Rebels had been growing bolder, more desperate, seeking contact with the shadier criminal elements in an effort to sustain their senseless insurgency, and he had been sent to investigate. His search had turned up nothing, and frustrated at meeting a dead end, Vader decided he needed something beyond his typical slaughter.
The race itself was entirely conventional, and he chose to use it as an excuse to lose himself in the Force as the rev of the engines droned on in the background. It was nearly meditation, and he chose to treat it as such as each heat commenced and concluded in succession.
And then began the amateur round.
Hi! For those prompts, 25. Why do you have a picture of me? for Luke and Vader?
send me ficlet prompts â optionally include charactersset in the same vague AU as this oneshot I wrote in which vader somehow uses luke to work with the rebellion to bring down palpatine. I still have very few details worked out in this verse but it seemed to fit best with what I wanted to do, so, enjoy!
His father was angry. That, in and of itself, was not unusual â his father was almost always angry, after all â but his anger felt different, this time. He was angry at Luke. Now, of course, that was also not the most unusual of circumstances. The two of them had very different opinions on what was considered âproper behaviour,â and as such his actions tended to put his father into something of a foul mood more often than not. But that usually manifested in something more like annoyance than genuine anger. ThisâŚ
This felt far closer to the type of rage that rolled off his father before he strangled someone.
For the fanfic directorâs cutââBack Against the Wallâ? Any part of it you want :)
Starry Talks Fics:Â Â Back Against the Wall
I lucked out, with this one, and I hope nobody thinks me arrogant for believing thereâs a reason that this is my most successful star wars work. (so far, anyway)
With this being for the secret santa 2k19, I got some prompts for it, and what my Giftee asked for just so happened to fall in line with some ideas I had + things I just generally enjoy writing. Luke, dad, forced to interact, being awkward and stubborn and actually talking ?? Yeah I canât get enough of that either. So that worked out real well.
One of my challenges was finding a somewhat unique way of bringing this about while still keeping things IC, though. Eventually I realized that having them do things that are reckless and could possibly work in theory but arenât entirely well thought made the most sense.
Luke, being self-sacrificing, is obviously gonna be the last person to leave this mission no matter how risky, and hold himself hostage when the opportunity arrives. Vader just wants his son however possible, and while he takes a more gentle approach here than at Bespin, heâs still. Well. Vader. So like, it became about finding a way to show heâs learned from that experience, while still keeping it so itâs clear heâs serving his best interests first. I had to show that comparatively tactful doesnât mean objectively tactful, and it was fun to play with his Emotions while still having him be the Bad Dad we know and love. âThe road to Hell is paved with good intentionsâ more or less sums up Vaderâs actions towards his children, in my mind, and his children have inherited that to varying degrees (which lends its way to fascinating nature vs nurture explorations, but thatâs a topic for another day.)
I really loved diving into the way they both, ultimately, want the same thing but have entirely different ways of going about it and are SO stubborn in their methods. Truly, the fact that both father and son are powerful disasters makes them so fun to write. And if we wanna get into a specific point or two in this one, I think Vader awkwardly saying so little but assuaging so many of Lukeâs doubts is something Iâm really proud of. The two bits of dialogue Iâm thinking of are his comment on Lukeâs piloting and assuring him that he was wanted.
The thing is, thereâs a TON of complicated Stuff between these two. Luke fears Vader but idolizes his dad. Vader really wants his family, but he wants it his way. Theyâve both held these beliefs for over 20 years and reconciling their Idealized Reality with the actual world around them is a process that NEITHER of them is prepared for. Thatâs really what I wanted to capture with this one, and truly I hope that it did.Â
