Flag for Earth, Inspired by Carl Sagans famous "Pale Blue Dot" Speech.
from /r/vexillology Top comment: A flag for Earth I designed inspired by the famous "Pale Blue Dot" speech given by Carl Sagan in May, 1996. A speech that will always stir emotion in me anytime I hear it. Flag Design Breakdown: This size of the dot is meant to represent the smallness of the Earth in the context of all around it. The location of the dot is intentionally not centered vertically or horizontally, nor does it line up with any edge. This represents our location in space, not designed - just here. The blue stripe represents the "sunbeam" upon which the Earth is suspended (as poetically described in the speech). The black depicts "the enveloping cosmic dark". I know this design breaks a few flag design rules, but the context of Sagans speech and the designs simplicity makes me particularly enjoy it.
