ALL THE QUESTIONS!
ask-his-puffiness-king-candy threw down the largest of gauntlets in asking that I answer ALL OF THEM. Let's do this.
This is also for virginiagentlenerd and thewhalebaby, who asked specific questions. As I am answering all the questions, those will be covered too :)
1. What is you middle name?
Christopher
2. How old are you?
30
3. What is your birthday?
May 12th
4. What is your zodiac sign?
Taurus
5. What is your favorite color?
Blue, varying tints and shades.
6. What's your lucky number?
Don't have one. The only thing I have with numbers is if I'm including a number in writing or design, it's almost always gonna be odd. For some reason, odd numbers seem more realistic? Reasonable? I'm sure that makes no sense at all.
7. Do you have any pets?
2 cats and a new African Dwarf Frog. I really, really want a dog but me and Kady are out of our place so often that it's not fair to the animal. Cats don't care and the frog probably doesn't give a shit, either. I don't know, though; maybe he's super-sensitive.
8. Where are you from?
Hyattsville, MD in PG County. There is no reason for you to ever go there.
9. How tall are you?
5'10.5"
10. What shoe size are you?
12-13
11. How many pairs of shoes do you own?
6?
12. What was your last dream about?
I almost never remember my dreams. Probably about sex with a friend of mine, really could be any of you. Yeah, I said it.
13. What talents do you have?
I can draw and sculpt, I'm a decent inker, and I can do a few decent impressions and accents.
14. Are you psychic in any way?
Kinda? I will occasionally have these weird flashes of things, like how a certain situation will work out in a very specific way and then it will work out that way. It's totally useless because it's never consistent and it's never been for anything important...
OR HAS IT?! (it hasn't)
15. Favorite song?
Right now? Probably "Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift.
Ever? Probably either "Hey, Johnny Park!" by Foo Fighters or "Hemorrhage" by Fuel. Child of the 90's, folks.
16. Favorite movie?
The one that always springs to mind is "The Shawshank Redemption." It's the one movie that I have the hardest time finding flaws with. That or "The Monster Squad." That movie is so goddamn great.
17. Who would be your ideal partner?
I don't know, I can't think of a person beyond Kady, and anybody that I would pick aside from her is either someone that doesn't exist or is my idealized version of someone that does. So, how about just bullet points for this mystery woman.
She's funny -- like, can make me laugh until I'm crying and I can make her laugh too. She calls me on my bullshit and can stand her ground. A woman that's able to hold her own in an argument is awful damned attractive. I'm a sucker for a pretty face, but that doesn't have to mean conventionally pretty. A nice smile is a huge plus. I like curves on a woman but really, if her body fits her and she's comfortable with how she looks, that's sexy. Confident but not arrogant, smart without being a know-it-all. She's happy to go to a party but is also fine camping out on the couch and killing a day with Netflix and wonderful-terrible food.
Whoever she is, she balances me.
18. Do you want children?
I'm really not sure. There was a time where the answer to that question was a definite YES, but now, as I'm getting older and having less money and still trying to figure out myself, let alone another person, I really don't know. I think I'd be a good parent but I don't think I'm ready to stop being selfish.
19. Do you want a church wedding?
Nope.
20. Are you religious?
Vaguely practicing agnostic. Happy to admit my ignorance of nearly all things cosmic so I'm not gonna claim to know the reality of life beyond our own or who/what the Creator is nor am I comfortable saying definitively that a god doesn't exist. Treat people like human beings and in general, don't be an asshole and you should be fine.
21. Have you ever been to the hospital?
Are there people reading this that haven't? Yes, I definitely have been to the hospital. Almost never a good thing. Had minor surgery, seen both parents either dead or dying, seen a mother and baby or two. Hospitals in general are unpleasant places.
22. Have you ever got in trouble with the law?
The closest I ever got was stealing from Target as a teenager but nobody ever called the cops. I never drank or did any drugs, I was a pretty smart kid so I never did anything terribly dumb so there was never much reason to have to interact with the cops.
23. Have you ever met any celebrities?
One time when I was working at a Big Monkey Comics in DC, Adam Duritz from Counting Crows came in. Shop ws totally dead so we chatted for awhile and I sold him a few copies of Fables trades. I saw that he later blogged about it and really dug it. So that was cool.
Another time, same shop, busy as shit, TOM SAVINI walks in. WTF?! So I'm trying to finish up the line I have and go talk to one of the coolest motherfuckers on Earth but more and more people keep coming up. Finally, he'd headed out the door and I blurt out that I'm a fan and the lady he's with stops him and we chatted a bit. Got an autograph. Super nice guy.
One last one, also having to do with this damn comic book store. I met Brian Posehn at Black Cat in DC. I had just come from work and was headed to the Comedians of Comedy tour and knew he was a big nerd so when I ran into him before the show, I got really excited and mention that I work at the shop across the street. He was nice about it and said they were taking off in the morning so he wouldn't be able to make it and I say "I could open it up tonight if you want!" And then there's a beat. And he goes "Uh, nah, that's cool, man." and walks away. I managed to creep out Brian Posehn with my nerd overdrive.
24. Baths or showers?
Showers to get clean, baths to relax. But I'd definitely take more baths if I had a larger tub.
25. What color socks are you wearing?
White cotton, pretty much all the time.
26. Have you ever been famous?
I was on a local science TV show in MD called Science Bowl when I was in 3rd grade. So no. Oh, and I've popped up on Best Art Ever on comicsalliance, so that's nifty. But still no.
27. Would you like to be a big celebrity?
Sure. I'm a big extrovert and I like people and the money would solve so many of my problems. Celebrity, bring it on!
28. What type of music do you like?
Mostly rock/alternative with some hip hop thrown in. Also, lady pop singers, particularly Brit lady pop singers.
29. Have you ever been skinny dipping?
I have not as I do not live in a teen sex comedy.
30. How many pillows do you sleep with?
Just the one, but it's a nice solid one.
31. What position do you usually sleep in?
I can typically only asleep on my side, usually my left side. And I snore like a demon, apparently.
32. How big is your house?
SO BIG!
Me and my ladyfriend, Kady, share a 2 bedroom condo, one of the bedrooms being my studio/nerd den. It's mostly just packed to the brim with comics. Like, seriously, I need to clean that shit up. So many unread comics.
33. What do you typically have for breakfast?
A bowl of cereal usually does me nicely. I love breakfast food so damn much but I don't have the patience to do it daily and Kady doesn't really eat much in the mornings. So cereal or a bagel.
34. Have you ever fired a gun?
I have! I'm a decent shot, too. If I was ever gonna join the military, I'd want to try out for sniper training.
35. Have you ever tried archery?
I have not. Sounds like fun, though.
36. Favorite clean word?
Snuffleupagus
37. Favorite swear word?
Fuck. Or Bullshit. "Oh, FUCK yooouuu!" (both serious and joking) and "BULL-shit" are oft heard phrases from my mouth.
38. What's the longest you've ever gone without sleep?
27 hours? Sleep is important, people. Staying up for extra hours and pulling all-nighters will only produce poor results. Take a damn nap.
39. Do you have any scars?
A few, mostly minor scrapes and such. The most interesting scars I have are from getting clocked in the eye in high school and splitting my eyebrow, which led to having to get surgery to replace the eggshell bone under my eye. Two scars around my right eye: one above, one below.
40. Have you ever had a secret admirer?
If I have, they've never come forward.
41. Are you a good liar?
Yeah, yeah, I am. I'm not proud of it and it's certainly not something I practice often but I'm a decent actor, I'm pretty charismatic and people have a tendency to believe what I say.
42. Are you a good judge of character?
I'd like to think so. I'm good at seeing people's motivations, no matter what their actions, so I try to really examine situations and how people react. I know at least one person that everyone refers to as an asshole (often including myself) but I have at least one great story that showcases him being a genuinely kind and generous person.
43. Can you do any other accents other than your own?
(Reusing an answer from a previous ask)
I can do a few decent accents: Irish, Scottish, Russian, German, various English. I can drop into a ghetto twang easy, too, and do a decent Nigerian accent, mostly due to growing up where I did and hearing Godfrey do his impression of his dad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=8oE-gWzImxI#t=90
44. Do you have a strong accent?
I don't think so but there are definitely a few times that people point it out. I say awn (on) which is a Maryland thing, but not a North MD thing. And my Dad watched a lot of Westerns and his Mom was Southern so I picked up a few mannerisms and speech patterns from him.
45. What is your favorite accent?
Irish. It's a really smooth, European accent and I think it sounds pretty great.
46. What is your personality type?
ENFP!
47. What is your most expensive piece of clothing?
The one secondhand suit I own.
48. Can you curl your tongue?
Sure can.
49. Are you an innie or an outie?
Innie.
50. Left or right handed?
Right.
51. Are you scared of spiders?
Not particularly. Not a huge fan but They don't chill me to my core or anything.
52. Favorite food?
Probably pizza.
53. Favorite foreign food?
I'll go Mexican/Latin food. Too hard to pick a particular dish, though.
54. Are you a clean or messy person?
Pretty messy. Not disgusting but so very, very cluttered.
55. Most used phrased?
"Bullshit."
56. Most used word?
Awesome.
57. How long does it take for you to get ready?
Showered to dressed? About a half hour.
58. Do you have much of an ego?
It seems like I do but no. I'm mostly hot air and bravado.
59. Do you suck or bite lollipops?
Not a fan of the lollipop. But I suck hard candy, not bite.
60. Do you talk to yourself?
Of course.
61. Do you sing to yourself? 62. Are you a good singer?
I'm gonna answer these two together so it's easier to cover. I do not sing to myself because I can not sing and I so very much wish that I could. I have a pretty rich voice so it really bugs me that I can't do it and I haven't looked into voice lessons specifically because I'm scared of the idea that I can't, not that I just don't know how.
63. Biggest Fear?
Abandonment and being found out as a fraud -- that feeling that I'll be tapped on the shoulder any day now and told that everyone's figured out I'm a fake.
64. Are you a gossip?
Definitely. I love talking to people and gossiping is almost primarily that.
BUT!
If someone talks to me about something personal or private or asks that I keep a secret, I will, 100%.
65. Best dramatic movie you've seen?
Sticking with Shawshank
66. Do you like long or short hair?
On whom? On me, I've had both and I've found that short hair is a lot more manageable and I think better suits me. On someone I'm interested in, it depends on the person. Some people look better with one or the other so it's not a particular preference thing; it's about the person.
67. Can you name all 50 states of America?
Almost certainly not. My practical knowledge is terrible. I know all of the names of the states but I'm almost positive that I'd forget a few in the naming.
68. Favorite school subject?
Science for the exploration of the literal, English for the examination of the figurative.
69. Extrovert or Introvert?
Guess!
70. Have you ever been scuba diving?
No, but it sounds like fun.
71. What makes you nervous?
The inevitable. Public speaking, but particularly reading a prepared speech in front of a group; if I know the subject, I can speak extemporaneously to a huge group with nary a worry. If you put me in front of a group of 10 people with a prepared speech, my knees will knock, my palms will sweat and I'll stammer while I speak.
72. Are you scared of the dark?
I am. It's not the lack of light, it's the fear of what my mind starts populating the room with. I love horror movies but the lamest monster will live in my head for months afterward and will be right behind me when I leave a dark room or when I'm washing my face in the shower. It's very frustrating.
73. Do you correct people when they make mistakes?
Yes, but it depends on the mistake and I try to be subtle or at least reasonable. I try not to stop someone mid-conversation and correct a mispronunciation but I'll then say it correctly when I speak. Not like a jerk, just so they hear it. Also, the degree to which I respond on a scale from "Are you sure that's right?" to "You're wrong" is dependent upon how much I like you and how I'm feeling about you in the moment.
74. Are you ticklish?
I am.
75. Have you ever started a rumor?
Like a lie about someone? No. If I wanted to hurt someone, the truth is far more powerful. Also, I'm not a malicious bastard, so no.
76. Have you ever been in a position of authority?
Yeah. I managed Big Monkey Comics very briefly (kinda managed it, but not fully. Assistant managed it.) Aside from that, I was once made Art Director of a quarter-long project while I was in college. I couldn't do a whole lot to enforce rules as I was still a student but I oversaw the project.
77. Have you ever drank underage?
No. I've had a sip of my Dad's beer once when I was a kid but that's it.
78. Have you ever done drugs?
I had a pot cookie once. I think a lot of the THC had baked out or it was too old a cookie because I only felt warm and a little sleepy. Then again, I react pretty mildly to drugs in general. Anytime I've had really strong painkillers for dental issues and such, they've done their jobs but I've never gotten loopy. Just a little sleepy.
79. Who was your first real crush?
There was a girl in middle school named Nereyda that I was crushing on really hard. Nothing came of it and now I look back on it and I can remember how I felt but it's like remembering scenes from a movie; there's no real emotional attachment.
80. How many piercings do you have?
Zero. I've had my left ear pierced twice and both times I've had to take it out before it healed. No real plans to get anymore.
81. Can you roll your Rs?"
Yup.
82. How fast can you type?
Relatively quickly. I hunt and peck but I'm really efficient at it.
83. How fast can you run?
I mean, I've never been clocked. Put it this way: I'm faster than you'd think I could be at this size (I am not a thin man.)
84. What color is your hair?
Dark brown but quickly turning dark brown and grey.
85. What color is your eyes?
Pale blue and my left eye has a little brown in it.
86. What are you allergic to?
Erythromycin (it's a version of penicillin, I'm told.)
87. Do you keep a journal?
Nope. Tried to a couple times but didn't care enough to maintain it.
88. What do your parents do?
Rot!
*ahem*
Both my parents are dead. My Mom died in 2004 and my Dad died about 3 years ago. She was a housewife for most of my life but before I was born, she was a cosmetologist and he did residential construction from the time he was 15.
89. Do you like your age?
I'm digging 30. I feel more like an adult than I have at any time previous and that's cool.
90. What makes you angry?
Liars. Dishonesty is the most direct route to my anger. It's so much easier to tell the truth, even if it's gonna hurt someone.
Also stupidity. Not necessarily ignorance, but willful ignorance is fucking terrible too.
91. Do you like your own name?
I do. James is a strong name and I share it with a lot of cool people. Rambo is a name that is instantly endearing to most people and I honestly think that it's my in for most of the relationships I have. I don't really feel one way or the other about Christopher.
92. Have you already thought of baby names, and if so what are they?
Not really.
93. Do you want a boy a girl for a child?
Probably a boy but having a little girl would be pretty sweet, too.
94. What are you strengths?
I will always be straight with you. I know an absurd amount of useless trivia. I'm a pretty smooth talker and I can flirt with anybody.
95. What are your weaknesses?
I am sometimes honest to a fault; occasionally it gets me into some hot water. I have a hard time remembering practical and useful information (dates, facts, etc.) People sometimes think I'm lying whether I am or not, and not based on whether or not I've lied to them in the past.
96. How did you get your name?
James was my Mom's brother's name and he died while I was in utero. Apparently he and I have similar senses of humor and laughs. Christopher is from St. Christopher (my Mom was raised Catholic.) Rambo was my father's family name.
97. Were your ancestors royalty?
Not that I know of but my earliest known ancestor was a nifty dude, apparently: Peter Gunnarsson Rambo.
98. Do you have any scars?
Please see #39.
99. Color of your bedspread?
Varies. Occasionally Black, occasionally White, occasionally Black with a Gold texture on it.
100. Color of your room?
Bedroom color is White, studio color is a Royal/Navy.
AND THAT'S ALL OF THEM!
