They didn’t make it to Bermuda.
Only an hour out of Florida, a loud beeping came from the cockpit. Javen, who was just about relaxed despite the rattling tub of an airplane around them, sat upright. Zamara looked over at him from where she was paging curiously through a magazine.
“We’re seeing some turbulence,” the pilot, a fellow named Fixer who had been a friend for years, before and after Africa, called back to them. “Came out of nowhere!”
“What is happening?” Zamara demanded, and slid off the crate onto the floor, where she could hold on a little better. “I told you we were not made to fly.”
“I don’t know,” Javen said, and helped her brace on two heavy crates. “Fixer! What’s going on!?”
