Microdontognathus, more commonly called a Small-Tusked Whikiut are large ostomesa which can be found littering the Digeroran Mountains. They travel in small herds with about 7-10 members in them, with about half of that being chicks which are excluded from the herd once they reach maturity. Microdontognathus are remarkably good at climbing considering their size, able to scale steep hills with relative ease to reach plants, they will also use their small tusks to assist in digging out tubers from the rocks. Though they primarily graze on moss and tubers Small-Tusked Whikiuts also supplement their diet with hardy plants and even fruits and nuts. They keep their eggs in crevices near their herds grazing spots, staying nearby until their eggs hatch and then moving on with their chicks, chicks lack the distinctive ‘beards’ of this genus until adulthood. Microdontognatus use their ‘beards’ along with specialized calls to assist in mating, usually resulting in herds resembling harem systems, with one graiparent and the rest being oviparents.
