speak now was released fifteen years ago on october 25, 2010. fifteen years is a long time. in that time, taylor went from country to pop. she left big machine records on the chance she would never own the master recording to this album, because she was betting on her future instead of her past. she lost her reputation and found it again. she met a guy that she thought was the one. a few times, actually. found the courage to leave a relationship that no longer served her. and then she found the one. on the bedrock of it all, her third studio album rests. the first album she had to sell a million in one week. the first album to really get a world tour. her first ever stadium show. the first ever rain show. the time she did a thirteen hour meet and greet while refusing to sit down, because we couldn't sit down. the album she wrote entirely on her own because the critics claimed she wasn't pulling her weight in the writer's room. at one point, taylor thought she would never get the master recording back to this. and now it's rightfully hers again. isn't it funny how life happens? and the same line still gives me goosebumps fifteen years later... i don't think you should wait. i think you should speak now.
