In a world with so many diversities, we need a language to unite people. And as per now, English holds a crucial role to be a language that connect people accross the globe. People that born with their first language is not English are studying English to connect more with other people, and to strive to work in an international working environtment. The amount of many English speakers shows that English is a lingua franca (a language that use globally to help people communicate with each other).
But, even if there are many English speakers, the people who are not born with English as their mothertongue or a country that use English but with an enrichment from their cultures, may be confused when they are interacting with a native English sepaker.
This could happen because they share differents cultures, customs, and values. This what makes English speakers interesting. It is how they preserve their cultures in English that intrigued me, even if they are speaking English, they also brought up their cultures in it. This shows how much they love their roots.
The case like this can be seen from Singaporean English, the way Singaporean speak English maybe not differ at first with the native American. But, do you ever heard native American adds leh, lah, meh in the end of their speech? I never heard any. Well maybe meh has the same spelling from The American meh slang, but it's tottaly different!
A case like I mentioned above is an example to how various English is. I can totally agree that English is one, but the enrinchment from cultures, places, folklores, myths, dances, are what made English is plurals!
Hello, everyone~ In this post, I'm going to discuss on how to be a spontaneous speaker. Being spontaneous in speaking could benefit us to be creative within a limited time and train us to give our best under the pressure.
A nervous speaker always drewback from the audiences and they lack body language, it will make the audiences feel uncomfortable. And that's why we need to practice our spontaneous speaking so we won't be surprise if we were asked to perform an impromptu speech.
The pressure that we may feel when we deliver a spontaneous speaking can come from ourself. That's why, the first thing we must do is to deal with ourself such as anxiety feeling. It may be easier to said than to do, but we can do it little by little by greet our anxiety and call ourself first. We must feel confident to shoo away our anxiety by acknowledging it.
Some practices with tongue twister also helpful to reduce anxiety and became more relax, tongue twister helps us to focus on ourself and be present in the moment. "Sometimes, we worry too much about the future." as the speaker said, thus by having mini exercises like tongue twister, shout the name, and giving imaginary gift, and spelling the name will makes us less nervous and defensive.
By organizing our thoughts, we could make a structurized speech so our focus still in the place. The speaker have some tips on how to structurized our speech, first we can identify a problem then find the solution and tell the benefits from it. Structurized speech is easy to understand rather than a speech that has no focus in it.
To sum it all up, being a spontaneous speaker could benefit us to feel more confident when we were asked to do an impromptu speech. Spontaneous speaking also trained us to be creative under the pressure.

Diplomacy is something that usually happened in international forums, but without we realize it or not, our everyday life is also a part of diplomacy. If we talk about our everyday life, we must think about the people in the society. Modern society is not a homogen, but rather consists of different races, religion, educational and financial background. With that said, conflicts often occured due to different point of view and opinions. Thus, we can use diplomacy to settle things up.
To be a good diplomat, means we must have a good strategies and calmness within ourself. Being a diplomat needs a good speaking skills too. Which means, what we are going to say must be mindful to other people's feelings. We also need a strategy to communcate with other people, how to communicate with them without offending them.
To sum it all up, we can be a diplomat in everyday life. And diplomacy is not only limited to international forums.
Students' and Lecturers' Perceptions About Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Hello everyone! In this post, I want to tell you me and my friends experience when interviewing students and lecturers of English Department.
We learned so much from this interview, we do know the basic how to interview people. The does and don't and also we gained new insights!
So, my group interviewed 9 peple in total, 5 students and 4 lecturers. Overall, their perceptions about AI is that AI is great to help with working on something and they really like it because it made their life easier. But, they also argued that we can't just rely our works 100% on AI because it will make us lazy.
I'm 100% agreed with most of the answers. As for me, a student and a future teacher, I think AI can help us to do many things but we have to set boundaries so that AI couldn't take over our life. What I mean is that we didn't leave our works to AI all the time and ask AI to do our works fully. We have to be critical and skeptic, because I believe, the basic problem solving and decision making is what makes us as a person valuable.
After that, we were asked to do a presentation, and after hearing from other people perspective, it's really interesting to know that someone said AI is a big help for an accompany to learn English, because machine won't judge like people! i think, it's a fascinating mindset~
Because before, i only think AI is just AI and it will be bad if we overusing it, but it depends on the people! All in all, we have to be conscious to use AI so it will not much affect us on negative ways but rather the positive ways! Dank je wel!
English Teachers' Perceptions About Multilingual English
Hello, I want to tell my experience during Multilingual English group project~ The photo above is the documentation from our interview with Mrs. N via Google Meet.
Other than Mrs. N, we also interviewed Ms. R & Mr. B about their perception on Multilingual English. Personally, I gain so much insights from the 3 interviews, at first I can't grasp the concept of what Multilingual English is. But, during the interview, the respondents explain their reasons clearly so I slowly understand that the use of multilingual English is inseparable from our daily life.
Like what Ms. R stated in her interview, "Multilingual English is when a person be able to use English with other languages at the same time." I already know the concept of code switching and code mixing, so I think when we do code mixing and switching, it's still a part of Multilingual English. As for the langages theirself, Ms. N stated that "Multilingual is not limited to only English and Indonesian, but when a person speak Indonesian and Sundanese, it's still count as Multilingualism." This also support the concept of Multilingualism in general.
The use of Multilingual English or Multilingualism in general is great to apply, like when we speak Indonesian and Sundanese at the same time, I think we can still communicate with other people and preserve our culture.
Though I have a little worry when making the power point to present in front of class, but my friends discussed about it in Group and we also read the article regarding the theme, it's a little bit complex, but we managed it to give our best explanations in class.
