I love the idea of Ryan as a Red Ranger, he's perfect for that. However, have you considered a dynamic like Skye/Jack from SPD for Ryan/Blue?
I LOVE the way you're thinking. It's been ages since I've done an SPD watch (I typically prefer the dino rangers) but I'll take any excuse to rewatch Power Rangers.
The Power Rangers AU probably won't have Bryncest/Incest in it because I love the idea of brothers serving on ranger teams. Or even like Hunter and Blake from Ninja Storm.
Oh gosh. What if it's something like Jayden and Lauren from Samurai: Ryan's brought up to believe he's the only one who can be the real/true Red Ranger/Hero only for Blue to show up and be like: LOL so everything you know is a lie.
OR it could be Ryan and Dana from Lightspeed: Blue grows up with the evil monster side of the battle, and they don't reunite until way later in life. Ryan takes it upon himself to show Blue he can be good again.
