If you see people walking around holding hands, please don't assume they're in a relationship. Someone I know asked me today if my friend and I were together in a romantic sense, based simply on the fact that we've come to the subconscious agreement that holding hands while we're walking from point A to point B is a thing we both enjoy for various reasons:

My friend has acute social anxiety and it makes them feel better to have someone they trust to hold on to in a half-security-blanket-half-meat-shield type fashion

Sometimes I still get confused about my sorroundings, even if I've been there a hundred times and will forget where I'm going, so having a friend who can tug me in the right direction to remind me is a wondrous thing

We both enjoy having physical contact with people we are close to

granted these are just some of the reasons for both of us, but as you can see us being in a relationship never made the list. Why, you ask? Because we're not together.
