0/0: Imprinted Environments
Ever enter a room intending to do something but your thoughts drift away once you are there? This phenomenon is related to your spacial memory.
Spacial memory: the part of memory that is responsible for recording information about one's environment and its spacial orientation.
When shifting from one room to the next, you are confronted with new stimuli that bring about a different series of thoughts and memories associated to them. Your mind quickly changes its train of thought.
It is really interesting to me how environments can hold series of "imprinted histories"—varying from person to person. They greatly affect what we experience and therefore who we are and what we become.
My father once told me his theory about ghosts. He told me that they are imprints of the past left on the earth. Like a videotape, they will replay scenes from the past in that environment. Something about that imagery really stuck with me.
