Explorers searching the Atlantic Ocean for lost artifacts from World War II were very surprised to discover a 20-foot-long piece of debris from the 1986 explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger.
The discovery happened off the east coast of Florida while they were filming of a upcoming series known as The Bermuda Triangle: Into Cursed Waters, per The History Channel and NASA reported CNN.
The group of divers were hoping to find a World War II-era rescue plane that disappeared in December 1945, but were shocked to come upon a piece of debris that looked to be more modern. They turned it over to NASA in August, and the space agency recently confirmed the debris had certainly originated from the failed Challenger launch.
