Life was perfect. Never in her life did Brooke Thompson ever believe she’d be able to say such a thing. But it was true. Many years had passed now since her ‘death and rebirth’ and she prided herself on never taking even one of them for granted. Their life was simple but every part of it was precious to her and never in her wildest dreams could she want for more. They had each other and soon they’d have a baby. Everything was falling right into place in all the right ways.
“Normal or not normal, you know I want to hear all about it.” And it wasn’t a lie. Every day she craved hearing about what her partner had been up to - it had always been the highlight of her day. Even more so now that she didn’t get out much herself. “You know I love hearing about the antics at the stations and what your co-workers are up to.” Sometimes it was the same old thing but Brooke always listened attentively. She was going to be so proud to know of Silver’s promotion! Brooke knew how hard she’d worked and if anyone deserved the job it was the woman she loved.
“Oh really? Did you?” Of course, she perked right up at the thought of going out somewhere. Usually, they spent most of their time at home and since getting pregnant she’d preferred it that way. She loved to cook so dinner dates were rare. “No. That part has seemed to pass. I should be okay now.” The pregnancy hadn’t been as hard on her as they had been warned it could be at her age but she still tried to take it easy. “And one night won’t hurt anything.” She leaned in closer and rested her head on Silver’s chest but only for a moment before she was pulling back excitedly. “I’ll just go and get dressed.”
