Our Pale Blue Dot (2020) I’m thinking about accessibility to space, and envisioning a future where civilian astronauts can come together on the moon—not for a military space race, but for international collaboration in STEM and to connect on a personal level what seeing the “Earthrise” means to them. I chose to portray the experience through the reflection of a helmet to bring the viewer into the illustration, as if you are the one beneath the visor witnessing our tiny home in the universe. What would you be feeling?

Was asked to help out with the logo for @spacegeneration European Student Forum. Here’s my cleaning and redesign for ESF 2019 in Leicester, UK, that is now on their website!

Some insight into the symbolism:

🌸 Leicester flower represents the city

🐎 The horseshoe is the link between the city and the host University

🛰 Leicester University is a lead on the BepiColombo mission to Mercury

✨ The stars are the same type that appear on the SGAC logo

Space is not just rocket science

It is a common mistake to think space is just for the rocket scientist. Nothing is further from the truth, to truly establish a space fairing civilization, everyone is needed. The artist to inspire, the doctors to care for the astronauts, the managers to manage and the lawyers to keep it peaceful and fair.

Consider what you can do, not what you can't.

This isn't quite a game (yet), but an open-source generator for pulp sci-fi settings inspired by How to Host a Dungeon and the Dwarf Fortress world generator. You can view an animated description of the setting's evolution, pause at any time, and export a detailed description of the world as a text file. To try it out, launch the program and keep hitting space to advance, or press R to enter auto-advance mode and come back later. You can move around with the arrow keys and see information about planets by putting the cursor over them.
