1. What was your muse's personality like as a kid? How has it changed since then?

Tiny!Minei (<4 years old): Giant eyes always looking at everything, would only laugh for her parents but would smile for strangers sometimes, enjoyed solving puzzles of increasing complexity as she grew older, dug holes in the dirt/grass multiple times

Young child!Minei (4-9 years old): Quiet but still observant, good at finding hiding places, surprisingly snarky in the way small children can be, kept to herself as much as possible

Older child!Minei (9-14 years old): Had friends but not super close ones (outside of her sister Petra), spoke up when she had something to say and would argue a point to death (but also was willing to concede one), applied her curiosity to her lessons and began to become interested in history, smiled relatively often

PS!Minei (14-15 years old): Angry and on edge (most obvious when she spoke, as she specifically was not quiet at this point), had trained enough at fighting to be a terrifying combatant and scared some people on that point (though she never explicitly threatened allies), had grown enough to make new friends despite the grief she was struggling with and did so (see Kerra especially), took punch after punch and kept getting back up to deal more of her own

Current!Minei (>15 years old)*: has grown into herself as a leader and is a more and more capable one as time passes, self-motivated and confident in her abilities (a little too confident maybe--very willing to take risks that include pissing off people like Desmina), has more than one good friend and remains as close with her sister as she can while not living in the same place, still gets angry sometimes but it's much more controlled (current!Minei would make (and has before made) a long-term revenge plan, whereas PS!Minei would make one involving immediate retaliation)

*I grouped a bunch of years together here for simplicity's sake. Minei is 28 as of VoE.

11. What expectations were placed on your muse as a child? Who had those expectations for your muse? How did your muse feel about them?

Lion’s Arch, 1332 AE

It is strange to see Lion’s Arch so empty. Of course, there are a few souls setting shops, cleaners on the street, lovers catching a moment alone, Lionguard patrolling the area, but not as many as it will have later in the day, when the sun rises further and dispels this almost mystical aura Nyra has never been able to fully capture in the city. It’s one of the reasons she didn’t move to Lion’s Arch upon her rise to fame. Besides, Divinity’s Reach is not bad. It’s only that she isn’t home all that often, but it’s okay.

But whether it is Lion’s Arch or Divinity’s Reach, it wouldn’t matter, because she has Trahearne back to walk the streets with. Their hands are joined together, bark against glove, and they walk in silence, but it’s a pleasant sort of silence. It  feels like Zhaitan campaign and their walks around Fort Trinity.

“Do you remember what you told me in Orr?” he suddenly asks, demanding her attention.

“I told you many things in Orr,” she replies vaguely, shaking her head. Her chest feels oddly light; has been since Kralkatorrik’s demise a few days ago.

“You said we never went anywhere nice for dates,” he continues, pointedly ignoring her reply. Nyra wants to see two yellow eyes turn at her, but the wilted leaves on his face are hard to miss and the eye at its centre remains unseeing, dead.

We should both be dead, she thinks. But we’re not. He has dead foliage to show for it, she has her burns. They’ve been remade for each other, a quiet reminder to never part again.

To think I only wanted a little piece of fame when I was nineteen, she thinks. Sometimes, it scares her. It doesn’t today, though. She doesn’t dwell on it.

“Does this count as a nice date, then?” Nyra asks, tilting her head. A stray lock of hair falls on her face, tickles her nose. His thumb runs over hers.

“Does it for you?” Trahearne asks back, suddenly insecure. “I know I suggested it, but if you’d rather do something else, you should’ve said something. Lion’s Arch-”

“Relax, it’s perfect,” she stops, turning to face him. “I never thought I’d have this again. You could take me to those electric Branded rivers and I’d love it.”

“Don’t go into Branded rivers,” he says quietly.

“My eyes can’t turn any more purple, don’t worry,” she says lightly, and his eye goes wide for a split second where she thinks her attempt at joke has gone way too far, and then his laughter fills the quietness of the morning.

Nyra smiles, and it’s a genuine thing. Happiness feels almost foreign, an unknown force coursing through her; celebrations at Fort Trinity come to mind, parades in the Grove and Divinity’s Reach and Hoelbrak and Rata Sum and Black Citadel; him, tipsy, laughing at a norn hunter’s bad joke, the sway in their steps when they’ve had a touch too much of Rytlock’s blood whiskey-

“What?” he says, searching her eyes.

“I never thought I’d hear you laugh again,” she whispers. “Do it again, please. It’s very pretty. Fuck, you’re very pretty when you laugh.”

Faint glow on his cheek brightens. He looks away, squeezes her hand, clears his throat. “Lyss.”

“Trahearne.”

“Only if you laugh with me.”

For the first time in a long while, she feels like she has an actual reason to. “Yes. Laughter is good. Let’s laugh together. And never stop again.”

24. Do they have any creative hobbies? (art, writing, music, etc)

She plays electric bass, doesn't write her own music but likes learning songs and just improving little practice/fidget tunes.

25. How good/bad is their hearing? what about their eyesight?

Her hearing and sight are top tier! Not like above standard, but she's not down any either.

32. Do they have any habits that aren't particularly self-destructive, just maybe odd?

Honestly I'm sure she does but none come to mind immediately! Hm...I think she chews on the tips of her hair when she's thinking or fidgety.

35. Do they ever return home?

Sure sure, gladly! :D You get Aysel, since she's been on my mind a lot! (I have a fic with her in it that I'll post sometime soon; I still want to edit it a little.)

The amount that Aysel fights with physical weapons as opposed to her magic is low, but she always carries at least 10 daggers on her somehow. Her thumb joint clicks sometimes because she dislocated it as a child (on purpose). She can't cook at all. Give her almost any math problem and she'll solve it in her head. She doesn't like the texture of silk because it's too smooth. She used to paint "tattoos" on herself as a child before actually getting them as an adult, but her favorite thing to paint with was watercolors, and so they never lasted very long.

Answering the second question first: Aysel is a trans woman and is aromantic/bisexual!

Have there been any horrible consequences to well-intentioned choices your OC made? How did they cope with that?

And: What skill does your OC need to work on improving?

For Riagain :D

Riagain is another who felt the conses start quencing in the Maguuma jungle. Cause unlike sylvari, he didn't have the protection of the Dream. He had the fun of being from the same tree as Malyck who he never even had the fortune to meet. Stepped into the jungle and...well, no defenses even when he knows about the dragon. He fell fast and was a major threat to his team for the entirety of HoT. He's still coping with the familiar faces he killed. He does a lot more research before going in to play hero now. Always have a backup plan or failsafe.

Skills he needs to improve are long range weaponry. He's amazing in close combat, but absolutely dogshit with distant targets and aiming.

3. Are they an outsider? Do they feel like one?

To an extent she is, just by virtue of traveling constantly and avoiding strong connections due to trust issues. But she's also such a genuinely fun person to be around and very to know that she doesn't really have the energy of a typical outsider! Most people she meets assume she's more open than she really is, until they try to be closer to her.

4. How do they feel about their past/younger self?

She feels sorry for her younger self. And wishes she could go back to stop the relationship that ruined her trust. She knows none of it was truly her fault but she missed signs she should've seen if she hadn't been wearing rose-tinted glasses.

12. Generally, what's most people's first impression of them? + What impression do they *want* to leave on others?

That she's carefree and fun, such a free soul constantly looking for thrills and adventure! This is intentional and exactly the energy she wants to give off. She genuinely wants to have a great time and live life to the fullest. So long as she can keep people at an emotional arms length away to avoid getting too attached to notice warning signs again. She tries to make sure no one gets the impression that she wants a deeper connection.

19. Do they love easily (platonic, familial, romantic, etc)? Is love easy for them to express?

For Marta! \o/ been a minute since I've brought her up here, delightful~

1. What parts of their childhood trigger them?

None in a bad way! She had a pretty standard norn upbringing, good parents and lots of adventures to be had with other kids.

2. How do they treat themselves when they're feeling sad?

Kindly, though maybe not exactly confronting the issue directly. She tends to go out and try to cheer herself up! Be it through a little trip hunting or a wrestling match or attending a moot, anything to brighten her spirits!

6. Who do they avoid? Why?

Sons of svanir cause. Well. Obviously lmaooooo... There's no specific person aside from that who I can think of that she'd actively avoid!
