“Amy, we need to see you in medbay.”

Amy groans as the distorted voice comes over the intercoms in her rooms, having just sat down on the edge of the bed. She’d been working in engineering all day and doing that on top of being 6 months pregnant was exhausting.

She sighs and sits up though, struggling with her heavy middle. It had grown a lot recently. More than she’d expected considering she’s only 6 months along.

“On the way,” she confirmed, hoisting herself out of the bed and back into her official uniform, frowning at the ill fitting fabric.

Their mission was a simple one. Travel to a nearby unknown planet, see if it is hospitable and habitable, and keep track of life forms. That was a year ago. Now, they’d cultivated and inhabited the planet, working on helping some of the struggling species revamp their numbers. It was by sheer accident Amy had fallen pregnant with a rare endangered species.

But of course, since the species was already endangered, they refused to let he get rid of the pregnancy, so now they were tracking and monitoring it instead, making notes of everything along the way. Hence why she was currently waddling her way to medbay.

“Amy! Hold up!” Michael, the ship’s lead engineer and her biggest crush runs up to her, a huge grin on his face. “Where are you headed? There’s a betting pool going on in the mess hall. You should join us.”

Amy groaned and pointed at her belly. “I would but I have to report to medbay. It’s been 2 days since my last update.”

Michael nods understandingly. “How’s that going? I saw your request for leave coming up.”

Amy nods, rolling her eyes. “They want to fully monitor the pregnancy next week, meaning I have to stay in medbay 24/7. I’m going to lose my mind.”

Michael’s brows frown and he looks down at your belly, an odd look on his face. “Umm, Amy you’re glowing.”

Amy rolled her eyes. “That’s what everyone says to pregnant women.”

He shakes his head though, pointing down to where the button of your uniform was stretched thin over your belly. “No, you’re actually glowing!”

Amy frowned and looked down, not understanding until she pulled aside a button and could see a faint golden glow through the thin fabric of her undershirt. “Holy shit.”

Yes, really! The last time I touched my Star Fox comic concept about Fara Phoenix having her own death-defying parallel plotline during the Lylat Wars of 64 was in 2020 - 2021. I can’t get enough of this story, it’s such a sweet escape for me to keep developing!

Since I’ve been on such a long hiatus to the point that this plot has aged like fine wine, I’m calling my own reboot of my own fic-comic something DIRECTOR’S CUT-y: Fara’s Arc DX!

As you can tell, I’m extremely lazy when it comes to naming my stories, but I wanted this one to sound just like a videogame. I had fun cooking up a few sketches of new ideas.

Fara's Arc (2020): My remixed take on the Lylat War, featuring Fara as the protagonist of a wild series of events. I gave Fara a unique plotline during the war against Andross and experimented with her as a main character, a hero of her own story. Through her arc, we also experience the Lylat War in a new way.

It was fun for me to imagine how to build on the lore of the Lylat War and play with introducing other events and characters that make the Star Fox world a little larger and take you all on a ride! A piece of Adventures lore (Cerinia) has a “butterfly effect” on triggering this plot.

Fara’s Arc (2020) was an experiment for me where I told the fic through ‘storyboard’-like sequences. It was dialogueless with only my storybook-style passages as a supplement (think of how Star Fox Command narrated the endings!). I wanted my readers to infer all sorts of things through the drawn pictures.

I’m really fond of Benimaru Itoh’s SNES comic, so this story is influenced by a lot of things established by Fara’s creator. Fara’s Arc emulates the rather mature and eccentric atmopshere of the SNES-era Star Fox and loosely follows the SNES character ages (Fara, Fox, and friends are aged-up to the SNES canon).

Lastly, I don’t pair Fara with Fox in my continuity. I give her a new love interest made precisely for her, in an effort to have her narratively step out of Fox’s shadow and have a life of her own. I’m a fan of both Fara and Krystal and their story potentials in SF and I prefer not to show them competing over a man, lol. More self-actualization for the Star Fox ladies, please!

Fara’s Arc DX (2026):

Sketch log is tagged as “FADX sketch log”. That’s all I’ve got so far!

I plan to write DX in an illustrated narrative fashion, similar to the original: I’ll guide you through the plot in each Act as a third-person-omniscient narrator. This is a rather old-fashioned, “storybook/fairytale” style of writing that gives it a more nostalgic quality. Ironically, this kind of style was applied in Star Fox Command.
