Pepper had no idea what was going on. She didn’t know whether Tony was okay nor where he was; Pepper knew nothing. There couldn’t have been a worse timing, the redhead just found out they were expecting, wanted to call Tony to tell him he was right. But now she was just worrying. “I’m….” There was no time for her to finish the sentence, Tony never received it. Friday told her that they lost connection and for a moment, Pepper felt like her world was slowly falling into pieces.
It felt like Afghanistan all over again.
Someone had to know what was going on, if Tony was alive or not. Without wasting much time, Pepper tried calling his team members – whether the team still existed or not, they had to be in touch somehow – but no one picked up the phone. Pepper felt close to a nervous breakdown, this definitely wasn’t a good sign. When she was close to giving up hope, Natasha finally picked up the phone and the CEO thought she would cry right in this very moment.
“Natasha? Oh my God, it’s really you! I tried calling you guys for so long. What is going on? I was talking to Tony but the connection was cut off. Where is he? Is he alright?”
