Ever wondered how far past the expiration date you can keep your food?
This cucumber, held at the Southeast Museum, has been around since 1887 -- that's 129 years! The cucumber was grown and preserved by newlyweds James W. Robinson and Libby Ann Fisher in their first garden. In 1887 the couple placed a glass jar around the growing cucumber -- when it grew to the size of the jar, they cut the cucumber, poured alcohol into the jar, and covered the opening with a wax seal. See this epic experiment -- which puts the “preserves” back in preservation -- at the Southeast Museum in Brewster, NY!
