So I saw this video by Jake Doubleyop on YouTube a while back about the different gods and monsters in Greek mythology... At a couple of points throughout the video he was hinting at, or trying to imply, that Artemis was either Ace or a Lesbian.
Obviously this isn't the first time l've seen this implication as the idea is rampant on platforms such as Tumblr and YouTube…however, my question is where do people come up with this idea?
It's true that there are theoi in mythology we would consider to be gay or bi or asexual (Apollo or Athene for example…though both are far too nuanced to simply wrap under that umbrella). However there is nothing l've come across in my studies of her that would imply either of these for Artemis...in fact, both seem to be in direct conflict with her nature as a goddess, as well as the way she was worshipped.
Where does this misconception come from and why do people seem to be pushing it so prevalently today? There is zero textual or subtextual evidence to support the claim, especially when given the contextual understanding of historical cultures and practices.
Just in time for October. Final facelifts I did for these anon kid's coloring book Halloween pages.
As of this writing I'm very confused about this ''Shadow has no friends'' statement thing. I know the context that this is something Ian Flynn stated regarding the mandates but does anyone have the source please? I can't find it anywhere besides people talking about it.
