I'm looking into the cultures that possibly inspired the Chasind and discovered that there was a real life group of nomadic people called the Avar.
It's a one letter difference on the spelling. Hmm I wonder.
Obviously, by DAI they were taking inspiration from elsewhere for the Avaar culturally, but I do wonder if that isn't where they got the name from originally.

Just in case you were still wondering, that gif set you reblogged with the blonde and the brunette is from a French drama series called 'The Returned' or 'Les Revenants' which involves residents in a small town who have been very dead for a very long time suddenly reappearing with no memory of their passing and trying to resume their lives. It was an excellent show and those two women in particular had some moving scenes.
