🗣 As a career musician I've noticed how music is often relegated to the category of entertainment as opposed to an art medium. In the same breath this categorization of music as lesser form of expression belies its unparalleled power to engage people in our community who might otherwise consider art as something outside of their world. One of the impetuses for opening our Brooklyn art space @WorldMoneyGallery in 2016 was to have a space were we produce music exhibitions with the same care and attention as traditional visual art. We wanted to present artfully crafted music works as art and elevate the medium beyond entertainment, celebrating a medium that intimately engaged people of our community along with many other mediums that would oftentimes be left out of the traditional gallery model. With that in mind we bring to you this Friday’s Art Basel Edition of #SoundExhibit a music installation series focusing on the art of beat making featuring the works of 3 prolific beat makers: 🔉🔉🔉 Brooklyn by way of Iraq producer and 3D artist @amarbagh DASH alumni Charm (@BabyNewport) & Miami’s very own @Bandeauxx We will also have a set from Brooklyn Hip hop/electronic duo @WeekendMoney performing for the first time in Miami. We will also have some other special guest performers to be announced throughout the week.
