Side-note: The long nightmare is over! I've caught up on reading and the AoR finale was just released on Marvel Unlimited. I much prefer positive posting, but I can't stop myself from commenting (and there is still more in the queue).

I would add a comment, but what can one possibly add to "girl portal-surfing on her giant sword to go cut up a space ship?" Nothing that can match that energy.

X-Infernus #2 When Illyana--or rather, the Darkchilde--appears and demands her sword, Pixie and the New X-Men have a hard time seeing past their trauma to the other side of Illyana they also saw in Limbo, and just blame her for everything, so battle ensues. But Illyana has gathered power and with the Soulsword so close, will not be denied. As soon as she holds her soul in her hand, she is able to shift back to a much more human form in body and mind.

X-Infernus #1 The masters of other hell dimensions are concerned at Illyana's rise and the power she possesses at such a young age. When a woman claiming to be Belasco's daughter shows up holding the Beatrice Medallion with Illyana's bloodstones, they agree to let her handle it, because they're not worried about her. On Earth, Pixie's souldagger, pulls the Soulsword out of Kurt, and in Limbo, Illyana instantly senses it... the chance to fix the emptiness she feels inside.

New X-Men: Academy X #19 Faced with the horrors behind the House of M, Illyana and the rest of the Hellions free the victims of experimentation, and Illyana is sent to take them to safety while het team leader Dani Moonstar and the others make a final stand. While this Illyana has never been to Limbo, she does wield the Soulsword--the same Soulsword that seemingly has been looking for her essence for a long time, and has now suddenly been "found" by scientists in this pocket reality as soon as Illyana's mutant power made contact with Limbo. It's not the Illyana the sword knows, but it's a start.
