HURT/COMFORT DIALOGUE PROMPTS
Since some of y'all you need to watch Tombstone I am putting it all under read more. I do get into later movie spoilers and ya know, you should watch it. Also it was fun researching if snuggle was a word back in the 1800s.
6. "Sure, we can snuggle if it will make you feel better."
It was one of the few nights they got to sleep. Mostly because it was easier to do their tracking during the night, since the Cowboys always made the mistake of sleeping and messing around with women, or hell giving into all sorts of sins at night. Made it easier to track them down and finish them off.
But not tonight. Tonight they needed rest. Rest came easy to some but not to others. McMasters, Texas Jack, and Creek were all sleep on their bedrolls by a now extinguished fire, but the warmth was still felt, which is why they were all sleeping so soundly.
Wyatt, meanwhile was standing watch, as he often did now a days. Hand hovering by his pistol, always ready for an ambush. He heard a snap of a twig and turned around gun pointing at the sound and after a single blink, realized he was pointing it at the head of his friend Doc Holliday. Despite the fact the gun was a mere half of a foot away from Doc's head he didn't even flinch. Doc seldom let guns bother him, he didn't seem to fear them at all, not that Wyatt did either but, he would at least turn his head in surprise at a sound of a random shot. Not Doc though, his gaze remained calm, he would be able to parse out the the gun fire that would actually be a real danger, wouldn't raise his gun for anything else.
Wyatt lowered his gun and turned away back toward the empty desert. Doc walked up next to him, taking a swig from his flask. "Jumpy hmm?" Doc hummed softly. Wyatt could tell he was standing next to him. The night was so quiet he swear he could hear Doc's heart beat. Or was that his own?
Wyatt let out a soft chuckle, pulling his coat closer to his body. "I suppose." Wyatt heard Doc take another swig next to him and now he could tell Doc was watching him. "Something on your mind Doc?"
"You."
Wyatt covered his mouth to stop himself from almost letting a laugh escape him that would've waken the rest of the group. It wasn't even that it was funny, it was just so, so sincere. Wyatt turned to face Doc, who was not laughing but staring at him, just as unfazed by this as he did having a gun pointed at skull. "Oh really, and what is it about me that keeps me on your mind?"
Doc smiled as he heard how much lighter Wyatt's tone had become. "Why you aren't sleeping near the fire with the others?" Sure Doc spoke in a light tone but Wyatt could tell Doc was worried about him.
"The fire is out." Wyatt said, "Besides someone has to keep-."
Doc held his finger to his lips for a moment, which made Wyatt grow quiet, "Wyatt. Just listen for a moment." And so they did, there was nothing but the soft wind reaching their ears. "You hear that?" Wyatt shook his head, and watched as Doc smirked, "It is the sound of you walking back to your bed roll."
Wyatt crossed his arms, " What about you?"
"I will be right behind you, like always." Doc said softly, taking one last swig of his flask before stuffing into his coat.
"Sure..." Wyatt said skeptically. True he had no reason to doubt his friend's word in the case but there was something about this that felt different.
Doc waited for Wyatt to move and when neither of them did he sighed, until he said softly, "We can snuggle if it will make you feel better."
Wyatt blinked, then he laughed with a hint of a darkness to it. "Is it that obvious I am cold?"
"No. It is obvious you are lonely."
He was always amazed how Doc could say things that would take all the words out of his mouth. He let his mouth hang open for a second, before closing it. He stared at his friend, his face only illuminated by the stars above them. That calm gaze staring back at him, but this time his hand was out stretched to him, for him to take it. "Come on Wyatt, let's get some shut eye."
Wyatt swallowed not sure what else to say, well there really wasn't anything else to say. He simply reached out and took his friend's hand and walked over towards the cold fire.
The fire might not be warm, but Doc's hand sure was.
