A few seconds later, gentle hands smoothed over his shoulders, arms looping loosely over his upper chest. And Shepard leaned against him from behind—temple pressed against his own like an overly-insistent cat, half-nuzzling his cheek. The faint scent of her perfume (earthy, touched with citrus) made his head twinge, but he leaned into her as well as he could, grateful for her presence. She had a tendency to set him at ease, when she wasn’t purposefully trying to provoke him. He could think of no reason to want her to leave. “Still working?” she murmured, entirely unsurprised.
