He lifted his head and caught his reflection. Staring back at him was a stranger with dark circles, dead jade green eyes, and a messy head of sandy hair.
Soren hated what he saw, and he bared his teeth before punching the mirror. Dozens of cracks spread throughout the glass, but it wasn’t enough. He struck the heel of his hand against the same spot, and the mirror shattered in a satisfying way, pieces of it falling off and crashing onto the tile floor. Segments that were strong enough to stay on showed only fragments of his reflection: one manic eye, part of his disheveled hair, and his savage teeth.
