"Well, I'm sure you also know that I'm glad you got them for me."

"Naturally," Rei said with a smirk.

Giving did not come as easy for Rin. He agonized over making sure he had the perfect gift. He didn't want to mess things up by getting something stupid. Rationally, he knew Rei would accept anything graciously and end up liking it. Still, he wanted to get something good. However, the longer he spent searching, the closer Christmas crept upon them. Not one to be defeated, though, Rin managed to find something, and the effort paid off.

Rei let out an appreciative noise and examined the gift with a small smile on his face. There was not any question that this was the right gift and Rei's small utterance of "It's beautiful, Rin, thank you," was all Rin needed to hear to know he chose well. Rei held the stained glass butterfly up to the light to get the full effect.

"I'm glad you like it." Rin leaned over and kissed Rei's cheek, making him jump.

He nudged Rin. "You startled me."
