your lovable pile of banana pudding needs SLEEP, so here is a goodnight poem because I love you all so much and want to give you all the hugs in the world because I’m a sap.
Although the world may hurt and scratch and burn,
only we can let it. Although our fears and woes can win,
only we can let it.
Maybe all the things in the world that make us feel lonely are only lonely too.
So put an ice pack on that wound, feed the fire some wood,
feed that kitty cat some wet food, maybe tuna if it’s good.
Hug the fear, and console the woe,
although they can hurt us, we can stop the tug and tow, let the sorries and hurts go, make them face the music, facing to the crowd,
we can use our hearts to sing, to help the ones around us, commit our lives to love,
only we can let it.

they’re for Zelda. That’s really it

While giving her a haircut and watching Love & Mercy my Mom informs me she never cared for the Beach Boys and her and my Dad attended a convention where they were playing and she just never cared for them.
WHAT! WHEN?
Additional note, if anyone’s wondering how I see Archenlander fashion as differing from and similar to Narnian, very generally I see Archenlander fashion as being more stylized high fantasy and medieval and less Greco-Roman. Corsets are still not a thing in Archenland, clothes are still comfortable, but attire isn’t necessarily as flowy as Narnian. Clothes aren’t necessarily restrictive, but the fabrics tend to hold their shape better, and the bodices are more shaped, often with decorative cut-outs in summer months.
• As a reference point, I envision in winter it’s more Rohirrim/ Éowyn than Arwen, more King’s Landing (early seasons, but not the updos at all) than Mereen, more GOT/LOTR than Gladiator... and in summer it’s more Tyrell attire (circa season 3) and structured, breathable pieces than fabrics as thin as Narnian. (I know that I’ve used some of those costumes for Narnian attire, and vice versa, but you see/feel the difference, yes? If yes then I’ve done my job expressing myself properly and if no then let me know so I can try to clarify. And yes, I know that the GOT costumes use boning and have corsetry under them, work with me here and try to picture it without that. I could widen the pool of places to look for inspo but since this is supposed to just be a postscript onto the Narnian fashion, I’m limiting myself to very few sources of links to save myself time.)
• There are Narnian influences on Archenlander fashion, especially since it’s important to remember that the first king of Archenland was a son of Frank and Helen, so he came directly from Narnia, and it’s also important to remember that Frank and Helen’s children married nymphs and wood-gods/river-gods, so there’s also a lot of nymph influences in old Archenlander attire. But also, because Archenland is more heavily human populated than Narnia, it also stands to reason that Archenlander fashion evolved quicker and differently than Narnia, even though it’s not entirely different. Likewise, there are Archenlander influences on Narnian fashion, especially near the beginning of the Golden Age when there hadn’t been humans in Narnia for centuries, and the royals families of both countries become good friends and allies.
• Whereas fabric drapery is often important in Narnian fashion, garment construction is more important in Archenlander fashion. While drapery is lovely, it’s considered more impressive by Archenlander standards to be able to construct a gown that looks beautiful, but stays in place even if it has cut-outs, and yet can move with the body and remain comfortable and not feel restrictive even in the gown construction.
Without the full extent of the Narnian image references, just sort of ideas as I see them are more along these lines:
Because Archenland is further south than Narnia, it can get quite hot in the summer months, especially coastal Archanland, and southern Archenland, which is bordered by a desert. Like in Narnia, there’s no faux pas about showing skin, and having decorative cut-outs in clothing for comfort in the heat would not be considered scandalous or otherwise looked down on. Dresses like these would be very typical Archenlander summer attire [x], [x], [x], or even [x], [x] in the very hot months. While the latter might seem more Narnian in the lightness of the skirt fabric, the construction of it is what makes it distinctly Archenlander, since for all the light breeziness of a dress like that, to keep it in place comfortably takes a fair amount of skill.
In seasonally transitional months, something like this [x], [x], and [x] would be common. Shape-wise, it’s fairly similar to Narnian attire, but Archenlanders would add belts and vests in ways that Narnians would leave the robe as it was, and the movement of fabric, and fabric choices, are denser and while still movable, don’t necessarily have the same flow.
In colder months, especially winter, the fabrics are even denser, without quite as much layering as in Narnian fashion, and brocades are particularly popular. Gowns like these would be common [x], [x], [x], [x], [x].
And those are my “short” thoughts on Archenlander fashion.
Narnian fashion post can be found here [x].
I am sorry for the inactivity.
I know I haven't been online lately, but uni is stressing the hell out of me and I am swamped with exams and coursework. I don't even have personal time for myself or drawing. This year had been hell. My summer had been hell. I didn't see any of my real life friends and I barely saw my boyfriend this year. (You guys know who you are and I am so sorry about this.) Simply put, I have to pass all my exams until February or I lose a whole year. I cannot afford to do that, and this is the main reason why I am not active anymore. I am sorry that I have neglected all of you guys, but honestly I am thankful to the people that still message me from time to time. I promise I will get back to you soon. Thank you guys seriously.
Hopefully, i will pass everything and return to drawing and chatting. I will slowly start replying to messages/comments/PMs, to clear my inbox because it has been over 4 months since I even replied to someone here. Basically that. I am not dead,(only on the inside) and I will return. Still love all of you tho and I am thankful to have you.
Zelka out.
